Digital speedo questions

Post by illnoise »

I now have a digital speedo (I bought Zuman's Blur) and I noticed there are a couple mystery functions I can't figure out:

Next to the big digits there's "MPH" and "KPH" which are easy to toggle, but I can also make out an "RPM" LCD. There's of course a big analog tach there, so why would there be an option there for RPM? That's just curiousity, but…

next to (under?) "TRIP" there's an "AVG" LCD, I'd really like to know how to use that, if anyone's figured it out, I'm assuming it'd show your average speed for your current trip distance? That would be handy.

And there's a CHECK ENGINE light behind the tach face! Hopefully that will never come on!

Apologies if this has been covered. Either way, I'll be sure to add it to the original tech thread if anyone has any answers.

If I remember someone said the check engine light comes on after so many miles or km to remind you of your first oil change. It may have already come on before the bike was sold to you, the headset doesnt know it wasnt originally with that bike, so it just thinks the time it was put in, the bike has 0 miles on it.

Not sure about any of the other functions.

no, there's an oil light behind the tach, too (which I gather is dim blue normally and turns bright red when it thinks it needs an oil change?), that's what they were talking about I think. The Check Engine light is different. At least I think.

The check engine light is for the EFI equipped G-Max's. No use to us. :(

I've never seen any of these on my dash (other than the oil light). You either have really good eyes (or I have really bad ones) or my dash is different from yours.

the "engine" light is invisble, I only saw it in the disassembly photo in one of the other threads.

The "RPM" and "AVG" I saw fairly easily with it lit up at night. I'll try to get a photo.

The first batch shipped out didn't have the check engine light. You had the very first one so I'm guessing you didn't. It's over on the tach side.

Here.. see, right under the PGO?

Yeah, mine doesn't have that additional engine light under the oil light. I also looked very carefully for what illnoise posted, but couldn't see anything.
