buddy rider weight limit

Post by peabody99 »

Hello! I am inches away from purchasing a buddy 125. I cannot seem to find manufactors specs on rider weight limit. Spouse and I weigh 340 together together . We have no plans for highway riding, just scooting around town on errands weekends (probably would not exceed 35 mph due to living in city) . Any thoughts? thanks!

Both of you should try sitting on it together. I'm not a huge guy, but I'm not a small one either. I can't imagine having even a skinny little thing riding with me, just because of the size of the seat. But try it out for yourselves and see how you fit.

thanks Bryce- we fit great on the seat. Actually neither of us is "large" in the girth/seat area, but my spouse is muscular, so we are heavier. I was concerned about overall weight would be an issue as opposed to the size of us on the seat. I discussed this with the Scooter shop staff, and they said Buddy would be fine, but we would want to wait 500 miles before going full throttle with both of us on it (this is something that will probably never happen!) We bought the bike, and are picking it up tomorrow, can't wait, first bike/scooter! See you all out there!

The title says 560# GVW.
Subtract out the dead load, maybe 240#, and that leaves 320# or so for live load.

I imagine GVW relates more to breaking it than attainable speed.

buddy

it may not be an issue b/c my husband, who was not the one who wanted to get Buddy (or any scooter for that matter), disappeared on it the minute we picked it up and said I better get my own! We both do fit it on great though, but it is more fun to have your own! BY the way the Buddy is awesome

Ha! I'm sorry to laugh, but that's just funny. My wife sympathizes.

We're going out for my wife's first riding lesson this morning; probably the last time I'll see the scooter unless it neesd washing or something.

You should be have no problems with 340lbs, and it's good to hear you both fit on it comfortably. On hills and for quick acceleration in traffic, going wide open throttle may be necessary with both of you on it, so you may want to take it out on some mornings, etc. when traffic is low to see how it does.

But, yeah, you'll want another one soon anyway.

I'm sure every time a dealer sells one to a couple intending to ride 2-up, he's looking forward to selling that second one in a few months.

I thought YouTube existed solely so that one could keep a permanent record of their personal debasement? (and share it with the world)

Nice to see I'm not the only one who still enjoys the Goonies. :D

Hubby and I together are about 350lbs, but I never left housing, so I never went over 20mph. Eldest child and I together are more than 330-350lbs, and I did 35mph easily with her. (Albeit she's 17, and kept squirming around checking out the view. I almost beat her for it. LOL It really does throw the bike around if a heavier passenger doesn't sit still.) NutterButter and I together are about 240lbs.

I only have a Buddy 50.

I think you'll have zero probs with the Buddy 125. :)

so what's the official word on the weight capacity? Also, I saw that the under seat storage has a recommended weight capacity of 11lbs. but how much weight can the racks support?
