Thought I'd pass on some of the tips I've come across. If you have any other suggestions or tips feel free to post.



GEAR

Helmet
Eye Protection (if not full face helmet)
Gloves
Boots (Non Slip/Slip Resistant)
Jacket (preferably with armor)
Pants
Rain Gear
High-Visibility Gear (reflective strips on jacket and backs of boots, Helmet Halo, etc)
Security (wheel lock, chain, lever lock, etc)



SUPPLIES

Tire Pressure Gauge
Tire Repair Kit
Trash Bag/Grocery Bag
Insurance Papers
Phone Charger
Rag/Wipes
First Aid Kit
Tool Kit


INSPECTION
TIRES
--Condition
--Air Pressure

CONTROLS
--Levers and Pedals
--Cables
--Hoses
--Throttle

LIGHTS
--Battery
--Lenses
--Reflectors
--Headlamp
--Tail Lamp
--Brake Light
--Turn Signals

LEVELS/LEAKS
--Engine Oil

BRAKES
-As you begin to take off give your brakes a squeeze.

OTHER
--Clean Air Filter (thanks Keys)
--Periodically check Oil Filter to make sure it's on secure (thanks again keys)

After carefully perusing the list, I can only say, "We gotta wear PANTS???"

Keys-

I am certain it is the British meaning of the word 'pants'. Certainly more breathable than a full pair of trousers.

Thank GOODness...I was worried for a minute, there...

By the way, my dad used to own a rental home in Niwot. I never saw it, but he apparently had it for a number of years when he and my mom lived in Longmont. How about THAT? Somebody who actually knows where Niwot is!!

Don't forget maps or GPS device and emergency numbers (AAA or other tow service). Also have at least a bottle of water. Don't wanna get dehydrated!

I'm assuming this is for a long ride or road trip? I leave my phone charger & gps at home when I'm heading to work :P
