May Scavenger Hunt
May brings new beginnings. And who brings new things to people? UPS, FedEx and the USPS!
This month’s hunt is a photo of your scoot with one of these fine delivery services. If you are not in the US and want to play, substitute your national postal service for the USPS. (Come on Canadians and Brits, represent!)
SCORING
+5 for pic of scoot with a truck, car, Jeep, motorized vehicle with the company’s logo
+5 if more than one truck, car, Jeep, motorized vehicle
+1 if you’re in the pic
+2 if you’re holding a package
+5 if the package is being delivered to you
+5 if the delivery person is in the pic
+10 if the delivery person is sitting on the scoot
+2 if pic is in front of the company building (post office, UPS store, FedExKinkos)
+5 if you’re wearing or holding part of the uniform (shirt, hat, sweater, holding the electronic signature pad, pushing the USPS roller bag, etc.)
+10 if employee scoot/motorcycle(s) in pic (there are lot of bike-riding USPS employees!)
+1 for first photo
Hunt ends May 31. Get snappin’!
And super-duper bonus points if you can get one of these in the pic:

Re: May Scavenger Hunt
Well, I headed expecting spectacular win ... and I got stellar fail. The UPS manager at the local distribution hub is unfun. He didn't want any of his employees in the photo because "this might end up on youtube and corporate might think we're not busy enough." He followed that up with "I really don't want you shooting any pics on the property, either."
So, here's my unspectacular photo.

I'm going to try to hit the USPS next. Maybe they're more fun.

I suppose I should be upset, even feel violated, but I'm not. No, in fact, I think this is a friendly message, like "Hey, wanna play?" and yes I want to play. I really really do.

OG that's what I like to see...competition to get to the first pic!
Come on folks, step right up! We all get mail delivered (even those in prison!). How about that order you placed with ScooterWorks or MotorcycleSuperstore, eh? What better excuse to place an order, "why honey, I need a pic with the UPS truck!"

Sounds like a huge douchebag, I'd probably give him some choice words and tell him that he's #1 in sign language.Orange Guy wrote:The UPS manager at the local distribution hub is unfun...

Excellent work OScoot!. Your Bud looks teeny tiny next to the huge building...so delicate.
and you too, ScootLemont! I'm liking the the contrast of the red tailbag.
We're a third of the way through the month and no FedEx yet. Come on folks, take your best shot.

I already have a song picked out for the video...it won't be anywhere near as terrific as ScootLemont has done in the past, but it does need your pics! Accost your local postal worker. Get the UPS deliverer at work. Video needs pics. This is a fun way to meet new people, and talk with folks who are out driving all the time.

Nice job, friends. Syd, I'm surprised you're still a free man...that's some guts! I was practically escorted off airport property when picking my mom up on my scoot. They couldn't believe I was actually picking someone up and thought I was casing da joint.

yeah, I know. May is always a bit crazy, as it's the end of school. My student assistant graduated so I'm at a bit of loss. And, I just got back from Chicago from a conference and spent the next three days teaching intensive workshops. I keep saying, I'm going to grab the UPS guy on campus...if he was cuter, I would mean that literally.ScootLemont wrote:siobhan - where is your pic?

Can I get +10 since the letter carriers are on their own rides?
Otherwise... 28 points!
Oh, and both letter carriers on MCs were named DAVE! I think there should be some kind of bonus for that.

Well done Bunny! (Grrr!) j/k
So what's next?
Can we go to the one-hunt-per-week format now? But maybe the person runs the whole month still?

Ok folks, the tallies are:
Orange Guy 14 pts
OScoot! 12 pts
ScootLemont 12 pts, 8 pts, and 5 pts -- you should get an extra point for being so dedicated!
Syd 11 pts
bunny 28 pts, plus an extra for the Dave-thing, for a total of 29 pts
The winner is <drumroll> bunny </cymbal crash>
Excellent work and thanks for your dedication. It's been a slooooow start to the hunting season.
So bunny, you're next. I guess you can decide to switch to weekly or keep it monthly. Weekly might actually help get more entries because people will feel more urgency.

my 2 cents....
I suggest the winner runs 4 weeks of 4 different hunts & there are weekly winners... but the winner of the most weeks over the 4, takes over the hunt. Or... if there is a tie... the person with the most points wins the "month" of hunts.
Last summer it ran for like 3 months... & I think some people didnt want to join it late.
the advantage to having weekly winners + a "monthly" winner is that you have 4 chances to score points - some of the subjects might be harder for some than others, base on where you live. (lighthouse, cows, boats, etc)
Having a winer for 4 different hunts should even out the odds & enable some creative hunt subjects.
But.... the person running the hunt for the month, must do their best to keep the points comparable week to week.... you cant have one week worth a toatal of 30 points.... & the next worth 230.
that all hinges on someone wanting to (and having the time to) run 4 weeks of hunts in a row....
then again, if the point totals were comparable, i dont see a big problem with one huntmaster handing it off to onother after a week or two.
again... just my 2 cents
I would really like to see this get big again, like last summer - it was fun seing what everyone posted up (almost) every day
