The speedo cable under the headset top came lose and is disconnected. A simple fix.

Sounds like a warranty thing. I'd run it by the shop just in case. If it's warranty, they should cover it. :)

Every single Buddy comes from the factory loose, we tighten all of ours when they come in but most shops don't know of the problem (I know because it happened to me)

Your shop should be able to take care of it in about 5 minutes, or you can pm me and I'll walk you through it

It is not a defect but a feature. That way you can ride the heck out of it and still sell it with only 800 miles on it!

in this picture, does the yellow arrow point to the speedometer cable connection? is this likely the point at which it usually becomes seperated?

This just happened to me on friday.

Luckily this post was already up and it was an easy fix. Took a little bit of time out in the hot parking lot of my office, but I was able to do it fairly well.

However, there is now a rattle in the headset. It's probably a loose screw when I put the thing back together, or maybe the speedo cable is bumping the head light.

I'll have to take a look at that when I get some time.
