Juicy Rumors and Voodoo Parts
So I've got a whole pile of jucy rumors for you all from a reliable source.
First off, the Blur is coming back. And this time its a 220cc Fuel Injected beast.
The Buddy 125cc is going to be dropped, but we're going to gain a Buddy 175cc. So it'll be a 50cc, 150cc, and 175cc.
There is going to be a 300cc retroish bike similar to a large Buddy with 14 inch wheels designed to compete with the Citycom and Vespa GTS.
Again, these were told to me by a source I trust that says he got them strait from Genuine.
Also, apparently the new 4T Stella has been able to reach 140MPG.
And finally some Voodoo news:
I was browsing the new Scooterworks catalog at my dealer, and there is listed a 183cc kit that fits both the 125 and the 150. If I remember right, it was a 60mm jug and a 79mm crank.
Let the speculation begin!

Man, I hope you remember right, because that works out to 224 cc.Kaos wrote:...there is listed a 183cc kit that fits both the 125 and the 150. If I remember right, it was a 60mm jug and a 79mm crank.

Hmm, I think I must have that wrong thenjrsjr wrote:Man, I hope you remember right, because that works out to 224 cc.Kaos wrote:...there is listed a 183cc kit that fits both the 125 and the 150. If I remember right, it was a 60mm jug and a 79mm crank.

I *KNOW* it was listed as 183cc, and that the jug is 60mm. I just wasn't sure on the crank. apperently it wasn't 79mm

I only took a quick look at it as I was browsing the NCY heads.

With a 60mm bore, you'd need a 65mm stroke.
I'd totally buy that.
I'd totally buy that.

You should listen to the Philip McCaleb interview on JustGottaScoot if you haven't already. He talks about some of this.
He made it pretty clear the Blur is not coming back any time soon but that they are doing something with the EFI engine. He also said they wanted to add a sport scooter to the lineup.
The retro 270cc-ish scoot isn't going to to look like a large Buddy. It's a totally new design. Also, it's going to have large—16" maybe—wheels. Something totally new, the first scoot designed by Genuine. (I haven't seen it yet, but have heard a lot about it.)
NCY cylinder kit for the 150: 62mm with a 60.6mm performance crank for a 183cc.
Oddly, there's also a 163cc kit.
Also coming: a couple performance cylinder heads for the 150, including a 4-valve.

Still won't believe a thing until I see it, but that's just silly ole me.
I hope they come up with something soon, I'm just about ready to pull the trigger on a Citycom so my wife and I can ride together comfortably.

wow! I was just talking with my wife about the fact that I wished Genuine would make something closer to a 250. Next spring I'll be in the market for a 250ish either scoot or motorcycle, if genuine has a 270 scoot then that will seal the deal. otherwise I have to decide weather to shell out over 5Gs for the GTS or go the Suzuki TU250 route. Guess I'll have to start an alter to the scooter gods and hope that Genuine really makes good on this big scoot, oh, and that if they do it's not ugly or rediculously over priced:)

Re: Jucy Rumors and Voodoo Parts
Gah rumors like this make me want to buy more scooters, and I just started riding only a few months ago.
I think I may already be getting into the more advanced stages of Scooteritis. I fear that in only a matter of years I'll wake up to find myself living in a garage surrounded by what I refer to as my babies.

The 163cc kit is the same part number as the 161cc. I think it may be a typo?ericalm wrote:You should listen to the Philip McCaleb interview on JustGottaScoot if you haven't already. He talks about some of this.

How are they going to drop the 125? It's the magical number of cc's.
The 125 is more powerful than the 150 anyways, at take off at least. I'm happy with my 125. I dont see why they'd force everyone to have to get a 150 in the future, or a 175.
Although I do like the sound of a bigger buddy body with 270cc. But can you imagine price? It would be around 5k.

Yeah, I kinda thought dropping the 150 would be better. But most people assume the 150 is faster just because it's bigger, so it likely come down to being a selling point.jfrost2 wrote:How are they going to drop the 125? It's the magical number of cc's.

This juice probably has some real pulp in it somewhere, but it is pretty hard to tell that from the fizz. I imagine most of these "hot" rumors will never see the light of day. Some of the others will but they may look very different by then. I can't imagine that there is much here to cause anyone to rethink short term buying decisions. The weather outside is great - time to go ride!

My favorite rumor that has yet to be realized in any form: Genuine sport scooter with a rotary engine. This one still resurfaces. I have no idea where it came from.

It's not a "Rotary Engine" it's a Rotary valve design. Check out this article:ericalm wrote:My favorite rumor that has yet to be realized in any form: Genuine sport scooter with a rotary engine. This one still resurfaces. I have no idea where it came from.

Likely not for quite a while. Or not at all. You know how rumors go.... Though we actually got the 4T Stella.chloefpuff wrote:Any idea when this alleged 300c beast will be coming out? I assume it will an automatic...................

Last we heard (from Mr. McCaleb himself), it'll be a 2010 model, probably available next spring. The scooter's still in development, though, so who knows? I mentioned this question a few days ago.Do you guys think that 270ish scoot is going to be labeled as a 300cc? I hate when they do this, like with other brands. No it's not the end of the world but still....
Buddy 175! Really? Serious? No Kidding? Will it be identical to today's Buddy's? My hearts pounding with excitement! Genuine,How I LOVE thee....
Oh wait a minute. These rumors do not sound like Genuine, with their tight-lipped hush hush past. I mean whomever Phil talked to about these new models, would have Phil's total trust not to say anything to anybody.???

No, some of these things have been verified publicly. In particular, the retro 270cc (or thereabouts) touring scoot and the 183 kit for the Buddy 150. (There's a 160-something kit for the 125.)BuddyLicious wrote:I mentioned this question a few days ago.Do you guys think that 270ish scoot is going to be labeled as a 300cc? A 175cc Buddy? I'm not putting much stock in this one.
And while I do know that Genuine wants a sport scooter, Philip has said in the past there are no current plans to revive the Blur. I think they may debut a new scooter using the Blur EFI 150 or 200cc in a totally new design.

The InTheKnow would not be happy, if you challanged his InTheKnow. I love excuses to use cheezy Godfather references
Sorry but I trust Eric and well the owner of Genuine (listen to interview). Anyone else may well be correct, and well, statistically speaking the more bull someone spouts the higher the likelyhood that at least some of it is correct. I predict that in the next year, no make that 2 years, Genuine will come out with a new scooter and it will rock! (Now I'm using the old astrologist trick, be very general and vague and you'll always be correct:)

What I'm questioning here, regardless of whether you're correct, is why someone with access to this information would choose not to identify themselves and own up to how they happen to be in a position to know these things. One way or another, you're either violating the rules or involved in some sort of deceit. I've tolerated a few others who've been guilty of this in the past because they've either identified themselves to me in private or provided useful information. Your contributions to the forum have not been so valuable that anyone would really miss you should you get booted at this point.
At the very least, you should mind your manners and know well enough not to insult and condescend to the owner of the forum. Or anyone else here for that matter.

Well you are "in the know," located in Chicago and have the Genuine logo for an avatar.
So either: 1. you're a Genuine/Scooterworks employee brazenly violating Philip's ban on interfering on the forum; 2. you work for another dealer and are violating the Posting Guideline requesting that you identify yourself and contact me before posting as well as Philip's request that dealers not interfere here; 3. you're connected to the company in some other way and are hiding behind the veil of anonymity because it's fun to be "in the know" without having to take responsibility for what you say; 4. you are, in fact, Philip McCaleb and are feeding the member hype machine and rumor mill; OR 5. you're full of hooey but are trying to make it seem as if you're not through the implication that you're somehow affiliated with the company.
Take it for whatever you want..but I'm always correct.Maybe you should be quiet , stop posting your idea of rules and regulations and ever so quietly listen to me and follow my posts.
Honestly Eric are you really that much of a baby that you must throw your weight around over a post where I offended nobody? If this is the way your site is where people can't express themselves at all I'll gladly leave. You are the one calling me out. I didn't start any trouble. I don't have to introduce myself to you in any way as this is the internet. Nobody else here has been asked to do that nor should they. You can either believe me or not, I don't care. If I didn't know what I was talking about I wouldn't have bothered posting. You couldn't just leave it alone and just read what I have to say from time to time and maybe as time went on you would actually see that I am correct. Instead you felt the need to put out your chest and try to throw some internet forum weight around. How pathetic and sad especially for others who may have gotten some early info or sneek peeks into our favorite scooters.

You came here and started talking trash to the forum owner simple because he disagreed with your post. You state you have info that contradicts what the OWNER of Genuine says, and get upset when someone points that out.Intheknow wrote:What crap did I start? Sounds like typical troll behavior to me. Most people who are new to a forum intruduce themselves and try to get the hang of the forum before trying to be king of the rock.... I'd like to think you're not trolling, but things arn't looking so good for ya.

there is a old Internet saying: fighting on the Internet is like winning in the special olympics- even if you win you are still a retard. (early Internet humor)
now I'm not calling anyone such a thing it's just this thread is called juicy rumors and no one said where the original came from so why bust the chops of any that come after? rumors are just that.
there is so much we can learn from each other, it'd shame to ban someone who wants remain anonymous. this is just a rumor thread - not one giving bad advice or being offensive.
I vote for putting this to bed without banning anyone.

Stock vs stock, with the same break in, it's not. Kaos's was faster because he broke his in a very specific way (and didn't leave it stock for too long).fretman wrote:This is from upthread a ways - I'm just wondering, why is the 125 faster than than the 150 at take off?Kaos wrote:...most people assume the 150 is faster just because it's bigger, so it likely come down to being a selling point.jfrost2 wrote:...The 125 is more powerful than the 150 anyways, at take off at least...
