Help me! I have an '08 buddy 125. I have done some stuff to it, prima pipe, 11g sliders, panel swaps, and dressed it up. It's a great scooter. But, I need help.
I REALLY love the look of the rattler 110. Not to mention some of the re-design features of the rattler, i.e. lower seat (I'm short).
I just recently took a trip to the coast with other scoots. Average speed was about 50 to 55 mph. The buddy did fine. Other trips like that are planned in the future.
My dilema is...should I get the rattler 110? Once again, if I do, I plan on doing long trips with the mentioned average speed. Will the rattler keep the pace without screaming bloody murder? Will it keep the pace if I do the mods mentioned on this forum?
I love the look of the rattler and I have no problems with doing what I can to get the most bang for my buck.
It will be used as a daily rider along with the trips. I could care less about trying to squeeze 70 mph's out of it. I don't think you should do that on a scooter anyway.
Should I keep the buddy or go with my lust for the rattler?
Help....pleeze!!!
stressed to make decision

I just hit 2000miles on my rattler,,, love it,,, 30 min's at 50-55 on it would be screaming, but would do it, more than 30 min's at that speed with gear would be really asking alot of the stock 110. 40-45 its sweet, 50 is easy till you hit a steep hill. Sometimes with "Wind" and road conditions hitting 55 is just not going to happen. Watching peoples faces at the next red light at how fast the rattler strikes off the line PRICELESS.
Yes the next thing on my list is the stage one kit. That "Should" hold the 55 mph mark well, just a guess i dont have it yet, but with how the stock scoot runs i feel the bike would be fine at 55 with just a little help. I think that is why they made the kit. Why they dont add the kit then tack on the price to the scooter is beyond my thinking.
While i have you here, do you like the sliders? I have two CVT scooter's both are very nosiy, are the sliders less noisy? Do they preform as good or better than rollers? Are the weights used with sliders the same as rollers? The kit comes with 12g rollers, could 12g sliders be used?
Oh just keep the Buddy too. Iv found having a backup is wonderful when tooling on the other one.

Sliders are great. No more rattling. Acceleration off line has improved greatly.
Oh, I wanted to add that I weigh about 130 lbs. Like I said I am short (5'04"). I know my small size will make a slight difference. And, if I do get the rattler, I plan on doing what I can to make the rattler perform. My MAIN goal is to mod so that I can get to the "average" travel speed for the long trips.

I weigh in at a hefty 220 and get an indicated 55 mph with a stock bike (probably right at 50 actual mph). If you do some light mods you can up the top end by several mph, and if you get the V8 you could probably push it to 70 if you really wanted to and cruise at 55 no problem. The rattler has to be the most fun of any scooter out there, and I say go for it!

Couple of other questions:
The rattler seems to have bigger tires. Does it handle better that the buddy (if anyone has done that type of comparison)?
What are the "basic" motor/exhaust mods that are readily available?
And...I have never had a 2 stroke. What type of "routine" maintenance needs to be done? I just heard that 2 strokes require more attention than 4 strokes.
By the way, I just think the rattler is a way cool looking scooter.

Not big enough to make a difference, I would say it's the same.
