Getting colder..when to put ToughBunny on the batterytender?

Post by chloefpuff »

It was down to 32 degrees this morning. I haven't been riding her much lately due to the cold and rain (we had a 2 day storm with winds at 40 mph and gusts at 50-60 ; thank you, Lake Michigan). And even if I do ride her to work, that's only 7 miles roundtrip, so the battery isn't getting much help there.

Is it time to hook her up to the juice?

(Seriously thinking about getting a scooter skirt so I can extend my riding season.)
so tough, so pink

Is a scooter skirt the same thing as Corazzo's Lap Apron?

Yeah, that was a pretty chilly ride this morning! I had no luck with the electric starter, and had to kick Flash about 5 times to get him to start. But the starter worked after I stopped for fuel, and he was fine this evening. Kind of like any landing you can walk away from being a good one, I figure any start you can ride away on is OK. So far so good.

In retrospect, I'd add a little material so that it doesn't bunch when in the feet down position. The newer design (the zip off chaps) works a heck of a lot better on the Blur because of the center channel. I should probably take those pics I promised "soon"... (I fail!).

I just updated that thread actually. I might look into making a pattern for DIY'ers if there's a definite interest.

Infact, I've got one I made that would work fantastic, except that I made it too short. I'll make you a hell of a deal on it if you want it ;)

Yeah, I'd say so. Any time your scoot won't be seeing much action is a great time for the tender.

yes it is tender time. Also I highly recommend the lap apron. I have the corazzo. I have no complaints. it works really well. Other parts get cold before the legs. Yesterday when I left for 15 mile appointment it was 41 degrees. Legs were toasty warm. I have gone quite a bit colder too.

I was just getting ready to ask if there had been a scooter apron / scooter skirt review thread. Thanks for all the tips on the purchased and the DIY versions.

We were just out looking at helmets for my housemate last weekend and the guy who owns the store was saying he just sold the last one he had. He got them from Europe, but only intermittently. It sounded pretty handy for New England, though.

I think there are some apron threads here-also try modernvespa and scooter diva forums. I at first felt self conscious and goofy wearing it, but the alternative is freezing your arse off or taking the bus or car. So I don't care anymore that I look like a too l 'cause I am riding my scooter, and they are not. Ha ha.

Ha ha. I am actually cultivating "eccentric" as a label. I just don't have enough money yet to move from "nutty" to the more refined form.

That reminds me of my MSF class though. Another guy who intended to scoot was in there, and at one point the instructor was talking about gear looking like something out of a Terminator movie, or stuff that looked dorky. He asked the guy if he felt dorky in the gear. The guy said, "Dude, I ride a scooter...." It was hilarious.
