“We have a car seat.” I said, “Kim reminded me to bring it. But we don’t have a car.” And we cracked up.
I laughed (and cried a little) when I read that! Best wishes Bb!

It's not until you're a parent that you know the real meaning of fear. It's one thing to be scared for your own well-being, but when it's your child, there's no level of hell that even comes close.

So happy for you and the family that everything came out as well as it did. I'm sure that this incident will become a favorite and oft-repeated story for many family gatherings to come.

Soooooo glad everything turned out OK. I work at The Children's Hospital in Denver and can give expert testimony that Calvin is beautiful!

The photos are great and the picture of the two bibs or towells with the tow truck and fire truck made me laugh and cry!

Congratulations on your family and friends! And, of course, your newest addition! God bless you and yours, my friend!

As for the car--to heck with it for now--cars are replaceable!

:+!: It's almost like having a lease plan, you just keep getting a new car. But the fam is most important...glad it all went well.

Incredible story and you're right ... one of those that certainly puts things into perspective. Many of those everyday problems that we sometimes tend to blow out of proportion, really aren't all that important.

I'm certainly glad that everything turned out about as well as can be expected.

That's quite a story. I'm very happy to hear that all ended well with your loved ones. Cars are just items, you've got you family, +1 now and that's what matters!

A hearty congrats to BB & Family! We totally understand your absence. :)

I raced over there on my bicycle, crying like… well, like someone who’s just been told his wife, child, and unborn son were in a car accident.
O yeah, I totally cried. I'm so grateful everyone is okeh. Congrats to mama, papa, baby, & sis!

I think everybody on this board with kids can understand the panic there, even if they've never felt it themselves. Glad to see everything worked out for the best from a "less than best" situation.

Talk about adding stress to an already stressful situation! Congrats on the new little one.
I suppose I should be upset, even feel violated, but I'm not. No, in fact, I think this is a friendly message, like "Hey, wanna play?" and yes I want to play. I really really do.

you probably felt more emotions in that day than you will for the next few years. Congrats on the new addition and I hope you and your family get time for some rest and recuperation

Wow, thanks everyone, I haven't checked in in a week, needless to say. Sorry I had to drop the ball on 2strokebuzz and I noticed I have a couple scootmoto orders backed up that will hopefully go out in the morning.

We're finally back home in Chicago with a rental car, but now my daughter and I have respiratory infections, so that hasn't made things too easy. But Calvin's been great, he's eating well and sleeping well and making things fairly easy on his mom.

As far as the car, yeah, it's just property, but it's our second totalled car in 12 months and we still haven't closed out the last claim. We started out with a paid-off Honda CRV that was in great shape and we'd planned to drive it for years. We got hit by a delivery truck right before christmas last year, and it took months to get a check, and then of course we only got the blue book, so we used that as a down payment on the subaru and we were stuck making car payments again. So now, even if they do total the car (I'm even more worried if they don't, because that car was MESSED up), we'll get the blue book value, which means we MIGHT have enough to pay off our loan, then buy ANOTHER car new with NO down payment, which we just can't afford. Sure, we could get a used car, but that's hardly fair to make us take that risk, when we started out with a perfectly good trustworthy car and lost it through no fault of our own.

The first accident was an accident (not our fault, but the other guy just lost control in the ice, so you gotta feel for him a bit) but this time it was just raw stupidity, AND the guy flat-out lied to the cops. So I guess we're going to sue him, which is lame, but not as lame as driving through a red light into a pregnant woman. Hopefully that works out and we can get reimbursed for our trauma (Sure, everything's OK on the surface now, but I WASN'T FREAKING THERE when calvin was born, which is seriously upsetting, not to mention the three hours of crying and freaking out, and who knows if problems will show up in the future?)

Of course that'd take months or years, too. So like I said in the story, everything's OK, definitely a lot better than it coulda been, but it's certainly not optimal. But we're very glad to be back together and we'll try to put off worrying about the car for a few more days while our physical and mental states level out. : )

Thanks again, everyone!

Bb.
