NBR - Vespa World Days article in Road Runner

Post by KCScooterDude »

Yep, great article on Vespa World Days in the Dec. issue of Road Runner. (review of Yamaha T-Max, too). The event was in Austria and the pictures are awesome. I guess they did a mountain ride in the alps.

I have never heard of this event. I wonder if Americans ever go. It begs the question: Can you do factory delivery of a Vespa and get a Zoll plate like with BMW and Mercedes?

I guess there used to be a EuroVespa rally that was held for years and this is a new event that takes its place. It's going to be in England in 2012.

Anyway, check it out.

There are some Americans who go, but it doesn't really seem to be a huge event for riders. The European owners on ModernVespa don;t really talk about it. One reason, I think, is that there are rallies in most countries which probably rival Amerivespa in size.

IIRC, one reason that Vespa World Days has taken the place of EuroVespa is so Vespa can control the event. There was a struggle years ago to keep Vespa Club of America independent and one result was that (until last year) Vespa didn't support or participate in Amerivespa for several years.

I don't know much about that stuff, though—all before my time and I try to stay agnostic regarding these big scooter community dramas that still get people riled up.

Having recently run afowl of the local scooter club for, I don't know, trying to be helpful, I kind of know what you mean. That's why MB is such a great place. Everyone's opinion is respected.
