Motorcyclist survives 40 foot fall off of Bay Bridge ramp.

He landed on the hood of an illegally parked car which absorbed most of the impact. He is expected to recover fully. He should go buy a lottery ticket. His luck is with him.

Incredible. Both that he survived and the outpouring of support from the BARF community. Really amazing not to mention heart warming.

Incidentally, he was only going 45 when it happened, 25 when he hit the wall and went over. Easily reachable scooter speeds. So do be careful everyone...

I don't know the rider but certainly send him all my support and well wishes.

I've never known a guardian angel to take the form of an illegally-parked SUV.

(He landed on the hood, which crumpled a bit, plus the vehicle's shocks absorbed some of the impact.)

I looked at some of the street-level shots of the roadway he was on, and it's a good example of why I find bridges nerve-wracking on a bicycle or motorbike: barriers which are just high enough to stop a sliding cage, but not someone perched on top of a bike.

I guess you better hit the ground before your bike carries you to the barrier with you on top. It's a pretty scary thought.
