No the best is when it dies just after getting it out of the shop, when the last time it was in the shop it was because of a blown (warranteed) motor, and so, convinced the motor went south again, you spend 30 minutes compression and then spark testing to figure out why it won't catch (instead of getting to work on time)...

And then you realize the shop helpfully closed the petcock for you.

I never forget to shut off the petcock. 9 times out of 10 I forget to open it. I don't know why.

And then there is running out of gas. This past summer, on a scorching day, I was on a long high speed run when the motor began to race uncontrollably, then died. I was convinced I had cooked it. I sat roadside for 45 minutes waiting for the motor to cool and pointlessly peering down the cylinder through the spark plug hole expecting to see magma, all the while slowly roasting and eating grit and dust thrown up by passing traffic. Finally I thought, hmmm, what's the gas situation? Sure enough. I flip to reserve and I'm on my way.

I've had all of these things happen to me in my short time as a Stella owner.

I usually leave the petcock on reserve and just go but decided one day I'd start doing things "properly" and try to get in the habit of turning it off (which I rarely do) and on. This meant I switched it to on and forgot about it as it stayed there for a few days, leaving me stymied when the scoot stalled out.

ROFL because this is what happened to me, too...in the shop for some work about stalling. Out of the shop the next day and I had turned off petcock. And forgot. And starting cursing the shop in my head until the inevitable . Even had cell phone out ready to call the shop.

leaving it on reserve isnt a good idea when your out your out then

stellas guages are no where near accurate heck mine works some times and it doesnt work others

i leave mine on run most of the time unless she is going to be sitting then i shut the tap off and run the carb dry

I blanket the neighborhood as is with smoke when I start up. I would hate to see what would happen if I left the tap on.

I've left the petcock off twice. Of course, both times were when riding with a club.
