my key won't go back in

Post by yamajin »

I took it for a quick spin around the block, pulled the key out and now only the tip will go back in. It looks like the movable part of the ignition is pressed half way down and won't go back up. Any suggestions? Thanks.

I had the same problem when I removed the key without the ignition being fully in the "off" position. Mr. cthoops inserted a flat blade screwdriver just inside of the ignition and turned it gently, which realigned the key slots and popped it back up.

Good luck.
My other scoot is a road bike.

did you turn it to the left to re-align it? I'm gonna go try this tonight because I need it to get to school tomorrow. Thanks, you are a life saver

Yamajin,

Mr. cthoops isn't sure which way he turned it - he thinks it was to the right. He said the key (no pun intended) is to make sure that you do it very gently.

Good luck!

If it happens again, try using a hammer. Hitting the key firmly with the hammer will make it go back in almost every time.

Yamajin - Glad it worked! I just about had a heart attack when it happened to me - I had only owned the scoot for about 3 hours!
