they look awesome and will be fuel injected!

They are not here yet, will be soon.

I know it has been mentioned that with the Stella, the 2t would be phased out. Just wondering if this will add to or replace the buddy lineup. I'd like to pick up a black Jack eventually. I can handle the "buddy classic " price tag. But probably not the Nü school buddy's. Really cool though. Didn't know it was in the works. Where did the info come from?

I am thinking the Internationals are going away - or at least heard the St Tropaz is meaning we (St Trpoaz owners) belong to a very special club - can't get them anymore!

With 170cc and EFI the Buddy will be a truly kick a$$ stealth scooter. Pull up to a stop light in what looks like a cute, little, harmless scoot ...... Well, you'll have trouble wiping that big grin of satisfaction off your face as you pull away.

So can someone explain to non-mechanical individual (moi) what does "fuel injected means" and will there be a noticeable difference between a 150 cc engine and 170 cc engine. I mean if this was a 220/250 cc engine - that is a pretty significant difference

Fuel injection means that a computer controls the injection of fuel and adjusts based on things like temperature and air pressure, making for better throttle response, more power, and better fuel economy in all weather conditions vs a carburetor.

The 161cc kitted 125 is a noticeable improvement vs the 150, as is the 170cc kitted 150. So yes, it'll likely be a big difference.

With a motor this small, every CC helps. Don't think CCs. Think percents. A 170 is 36 percent larger than a 125. When you look at it that way, it's pretty impressive isn't it?

About FI, here's my thing. The motor in a Buddy is so small that it's really important to squeeze every little bit of performance that you can out of it. Especially on a ride that involves an altitude change, FI (tries to) keep the motor running right by adjusting the fuel/air ratio on the fly. With a carb, you ride up a mountain road and the jetting is what it is. The FI system (should) try to adjust. When I rode my Vespa GT200 over 9000 feet, it made so little power that I was paddling with my feet to help the hamsters. You know what I mean? GT250ie (fuel injected) owners tell me they can blast over mountains without noticing any loss of power.

FI adds another layer of complexity and stuff that can fail, but carbs have their problems, too. The biggest downside for the VooDoo crowd will be that they won't be able to rejet easily, but IMHO that will be a worthwhile tradeoff for folks who just want to add a performance exhaust and don't want to fool with rejetting because the FI will adjust automatically.

yeah it means no jet but it also means moding just got more expensive

bbk it you will proably need a bigger injector or a fuel controler or a custom map

then you need a bigger throttle body

heck you may even need a fuel controler with just a pipe not to mention you have to make sure you get a pipe with a o2 bung or have one welded in

Any ideas on a top speed? Is the Buddy really worth up-gunning to 80mph when you are still riding on 10" wheels? I rode my 125 through Texas and Illinois doing 60-65mph and many people thought that was crazy on "those small tires". Doesn't it get crazier to take off across the USA doing 70-80mph on the same size tires? Someone help me out here....

I'd guess if they use a fairly stock transmission, likely 67-70.
Honestly, I'm comfortable at 75 on my Buddy. Its not the ideal bike for it, but its not bad for short hops....

Beats the pants off doing 70 on my Vespa Super with 8" wheels

How sweet is this! Man, I would love to have that additional 20cc for getting around. That should be enough to make the Buddy freeway ridable here in LA. And just the other day I was talking about how a silver Buddy would be really cool. Nice!

Nothing a few cans of black and gloss spray paint or a few screwdrivers (for a panel swap) can't fix.

I'm keeping an eye out for these things. They're just missing the NCY suspension. I do really like the new colors, photoshopped or not.

I have twins starting college next year so I can't really give serious consideration to a new scooter, but I've been dreaming of the 220i. I would love a bigger bike sometimes but still want excellent mpg's.
Also, some of the deals on very low mileage Ninjas have been tempting me
