Who's getting a new Buddy 170i?
I finally did it, I got my fiance to let me get a new buddy, and not just any buddy the buddy 170i... too bad I have to wait until it gets here. Now I just have to decide what color to get. I'm leaning toward the silver or the green one. But I don't know if I like the brown seat and grips. So let me know if you are getting a New Buddy 170i and what color.

You definitely should fix that, and maybe ask the mods to make the related posts disappear before your fiancee sees this thread. It's bad form to edit a post after it's quoted in a response(s), but, in this case, I think the mods and admin would be happy to help you keep peace in the family.vote4seth wrote:Ha Ha... i guess it would be the same in this case... i should fix that.Dooglas wrote:Ah, would that be your fiancee - or are the two terms the same in this case?vote4seth wrote:I finally did it, I got my finance to let me get a new buddy, and not just any buddy the buddy 170i...![]()

I was trying to decide between the Buddy 170i and the Stella 4t and ended up going with the Stella; but I can't wait to see the new 170i hit the store. That brown one really caught my eye when I first saw it.

From a reliable source: They'll be in the US in early May.
Not sure about CA availability. It's all up to the bureaucrats.

I recommend against the silver color.
I've heard bad things about it. Like, it doesn't run as well as the other colors. And unlike the other colors, it is a water-based paint, which will fall off during the first ride in the rain. And it could cause mercury poisoning.
Yep. That's what I've heard. [ulterior motive/off]

Mercury is tens of millions of miles away. It cannot be poisoned by a mere scooter.ksalen wrote:I recommend against the silver color.

Buddy 125vs. Buddy 170I
Ive been planning on getting a 125 by end of year, but the 170I is starting to take the lead. With the 170I I probably wont want to do any mods(plenty of power), so that extra $600 bucks or so will end up evening out. Cant wait til end of November(Ill have enough $)!!!!!!! Anyone want to contribute to my scooter fund? get back to me......

$$??
Out the door just $3499? The retail is $3299. That sound really low. The "not tagging it"fee is a bit more than tagging it. They say $4200. Maybe Ill call around to diff dealers, but that is the only one in Charlotte. (Vespa of Charlotte)

Re: $$??
It's a bit of a ways away, but check with Chelsea @ Scoot Richmond. I had a good buying experience there, and it was a good excuse to ride 3 hours south of here, then back in 1 day. Great customer service and seems to be a well run business.Raiderfn311 wrote:Out the door just $3499? The retail is $3299. That sound really low. *Edit.. the megabus runs from Charlotte to Richmond 3 times a weekday, so you can leave early and break your 170i in on the way home to NC. Unless you've got a pickup truck to haul it in.

Re: $$??
My bad, the sale price I was quoted was $3499, this included destination but not sales tax and tag fees; it's still a good bit less than $4200 though.Raiderfn311 wrote:Out the door just $3499? Megabus
Taking the megabus to Richmond is interesting, but If I ride it back wont I have to go a little faster than "break-in" speeds? Thanks for the research btw. This forum has been so generous.

I got a name suggestion for the silver and brown. Green is my favorite, yet to come up with a name.
Silver 170... "silver bullet"
Brown 170... "sexual chocolate"

Sexual chocolate is a Great name! Also a movie reference which gets extra points! As far as my favorite color, I keep changing. I may just walk in the dealership and buy what they have. Kinda like a puppy chooses you, not the other way around. Silver is cool cause I love the Raiders and can put some cool stickers on it. Keep the names coming!

This is worse than when I call our Buddy the Pink Rocket.Dooglas wrote:"chocolate bullet"

A friend had his GTS painted brown. It didn't come out quite as he'd hoped, so he dubbed it Turdsy.

I'm hearing the 170i may not have the extra kick that we're expecting when compared to a 150. The Blackjack might still have more power and speed..
I've also heard the racing stripe on the 170i is a dealer installed decal. Not painted and not installed at the factory.
Don't know if any of this is true. Just posting what I heard.

Something about scooters, I want bright and cheerful. So the dark/muted colors are a miss for me with this batch.
