Air Filter

Post by andylaiphoto »

Seems pretty straight forward in replacing the air filter but I wanted to double check and see if there's any extra steps suggested when you're changing the filter.

Thanks!

Bump plus questions...

The manual states it is a "wet paper filter element" but it comes dry and my shop said there is no need to spray with filter oil on the 4T Buddy.
True or not?

Also, how often do you guys change your air filter; not just clean it?
When you can't see light through it after using compressed air?

And... will removing the slide-out plastic dam in the air box enhance air flow (assuming I re-jet appropriately, of course)?

I read the air box mod thread but was wondering if just removing the flat piece of plastic in the air box would be a decent help. Not sure if it would do anything without increasing the flow into the box by adding the extra holes/ports and disconnecting the snorkel.

Ditto on the extended question.

I tried searching and found nothing relevant. Is it just a typo in the user's manual (meaning the 50cc uses a wet foam element while the 4strokes have just a paper element?

You are correct sir.

I always have a bit of trouble slipping the hose on the new filter, but besides that its a breeze.
