Best Top Case for a Stella 2T?

Post by brianlondon »

I have the light blue two-stroke Stella, and I want to put a top case on it. I think that it would be a shame to put one on that doesn't match in color. But I've heard that the Genuine/TC5 top case is not well made and has problems with leaking and sticking locks.

Can anyone verify this?

Do you have suggestions for other top cases, or other storage solutions?

I don't know of a Stella rack that's designed to work with a topcase. You may have to get a "universal" topcase.

Actually… there are topcases and racks for the later Vespa PXs that would probably work. But they're pricey and matching is tough. You may have to get it painted to match.

This is the one I was talking about. Thoughts, anyone?

That is a Buddy topcase. The color is surely intended to match the light blue Buddy, not the blue Stella. As Eric observed, the racks are different on the two scooters as well so there may not be an easy way to adapt the Buddy topcase to the Stella.

Honestly, I don't think any of the modern hardshell top cases look good on a Stella at all. Much prefer the look of a roll bag for additional storage.

Search for a Vespa PX topcase, usually $200-300

Roomy, cheap, light, very strong, scratch resistant, etc -- just pick your color and size.

I think the roll bags look better but I had this from my previous scoot -
It mounted to the rack no problem & comes off with a release handle.
Thats good because I really dont like the look on my stella so I usually dont have it on it.
But... it works well, keeps things dry & secure - locks (closed & to the scooter)

I might drop a hit for a roll bag for fathers day
