My wife and I will be heading to Sedona for 6 days and 5 nights. We try to do a 3-4 day get-a-way at least once a year.
Just to show how amazing my wife is, she encouraged me to bring my scooter along! W00t!. I have been wanting to ride in Sedona but it is too far from Tucson for a day trip.
Any Sedona riders got some ideas for some good roads? Want to ride with me?
PM me

If you haven't heard from / PM'd Keys, do so. He knows the Verde Valley.
My suggestions are the obvious ones. 89A from Flag to Sedona to south of Jerome. 179 from Sedona to six-mile road (aka Beaver Flat Rd) to Cornville Rd through Page Springs to 89A back to Sedona. But those are all US/State highway type roads. I'll bet there's smaller roads around too.
What scoot are you bringing, Iron Buddy or the RV?

Yo
Howard, Sedona it's self is not much excitement as far as scooting around... only a few roads... But, as mentioned above, 89A is the way to go. Take it to Flagstaff or Jerome.
Hey, you should give me a congrads, SCMP just hit 300 people! How's membership going in Tucson? Guessing with Gas Prices they are going up?!
Take care and have a great trip.

Oh, there is quite some excitement just North of Sedona in Oak Creek Canyon! It's not too far of a buzz up there, but you MUST give it a run! One of the best riding roads for anything on two wheels that I've found. Arguably one of my most favourite places to ride in the Southwest. Just go up US89 and you'll find it. There's a nice little Dairy Queen to grab a bite after you make your way up and then back down the run.

I envy you guys. It's been many years since I've been to Arizona, but I'd love to ride around Sedona and Flagstaff on a bike (scooter or motorcycle). The last time I was there (in AZ), I stayed mainly in the Phoenix, Mesa, Tempe and Scottsdale area. Went hiking in the desert and made a newby (stupid) mistake of not bringing any water - barely made it back to my car.
Found out I really like the heat though. Sounds strange coming from someone born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, I know.

I don't own a trailer, so I'll be bringing Iron Buddy. He fits it the back of my Caravan with no difficulty. He also performs better at elevation, so the Stella will be staying home with the RV.
I'm familiar with 89A and 89 up Oak Creek Canyon. I'm hoping to find so cool back roads. Hell, I may just explore residential streets and check out the architecture.
I'm already pm'ing with Keys.

From the Snowbowl to the top of Mingus Mtn, through Flag, Sedona and Jerome, that's a trip I'd like to take. 9,000' to 3,000' to 7,000 in about 80 miles or so. YeeHaw!
Oh, make sure you take any trip north on 89A on a weekday or offhours - the traffic on a weekend mid afternoon coming south in to Sedona can be horrible.

+1! I passed through OCC and Jerome on a cross county trip by car to LA a few years ago and the twisties were awesome at night. I can only imagine how much fun it would be on the Buddy. Jerome was such a cool hillside town. The main road just winds back and forth climbing through the village. Looks a lot like Santorini in the deset.neotrotsky wrote:Oh, there is quite some excitement just North of Sedona in Oak Creek Canyon! It's not too far of a buzz up there, but you MUST give it a run!
