is my math wrong? but that seems like I had a little less than half of a tank left!!

I peered inside the tank and it looked like there was about 2 inches of fuel left.

Oh and great app for android phone users, https://market.android.com/details?id=c ... rch_result

Any ideas?

I am having similar issues. How many miles are you guys typically riding before needing reserve? How many miles do you get on reserve?

After 80 or so miles from a full tank, my engine started sputtering so I did the "smooth move" and switched over to reserve. It ran fine for about 5 miles before it started bogging down again. I nursed it to the gas station and nearly topped it off with... .9 gallons. What gives? This is the second tank in a row where this happened.

According to the 4T manual, it's a 1.4 gallon tank with a .26 gallon reserve. At 100 mpg it should get close to 120 miles before needing the reserve and then get another 20-30 miles on reserve. I'd ignore the gas gauge and monitor my miles if it wouldn't sputter and act like it was going to die.

Could it be the evap system? I had issues before but it has worked great for over 200 miles since the dealer worked on it. Could it be a faulty or un-calibrated fuel sensor? Or is it just a peculiarity of the 4T? Any advice?

Same thing my first time going to reserve.
I put in 4 tenths of a gasllon to full..
(did not fill to the brim)
Next time I was forced into reserve, I put 20 miles on it first..
Then .9 gallons to full..
Next time, I'm going to go for 30 miles before re-filling..
We'll see what happens...

Yes, it is the EVAP system.
Unplug it, and swap the 4T gas cap with one from a Stella 2T. You will have no more issues.

OK.. So I was forced onto reserve and
THIS time I rode an extra 32 miles in mixed city/county traffic.
No faster that 45 mph
Thats when the bike told me that the tank was MT.
Coasted into a station & filled it to the top.
It took 1.1 gallons.
good luck
