Which LED bulbs do you use?

Post by Lil Buddy »

I'm trying to compile a list of popular (and not so well known) LED bulbs that Buddy owners are using. Please list which LED bulbs you use and where (deadlight, DOT or rear blinkers).

I'll start.

Running lights: the (discontinued) Eagle Eye 5 bulbs from autolumination (amber)
DOT blinkers: Matrix II bulbs from autolumination (amber)
Rear blinkers: 1156R bulbs by Jamstrait (red)

I have the same Matrix II bulbs from autolumination as you do in my dead-no-more lights. But mine are white and are running lights. Best of all, they are still working perfectly 3 years later after we (you) made that adapter with the serge protector in it. Most excellent.

I am using exactly the same than Skootz kabootz. White Matrix II from Autolumination for the not-so-dead-anymore lights as running lights with lil'buddy adapter and surge protectors.
I used them for over a year now and it looks damn cool!!

Same running light bulb as quoted above. All other bulbs are stock.

I did wire in a license place holder with two rows of red LED lights, but I don't think that's what you're asking about.

You know what I use, Lil Buddy, but I'll state it here too. :)

For the DOT signals, I use the same Matrix II bulbs you recommended from autolumination, amber

For the dead-lights, I am now using 45-LED Tower Type 1156 from superbrightleds.com, white. I haven't ridden at night yet since I installed them this week, but I think they're even brighter than the discontinued Eagle Eye 5s. They are definitely brighter than the new Eagle Eye 5 design.

And it isn't an LED, but for my headlight I am using HS1 Super Plasma GT-X.

It is much better than the stock bulb, but changing out the headlamp on the Buddy is a pain in the ass.

I switched from Matrix II's to Eagle Eye 5's (I think that's the name).

Eagle Eye 5's with Voltage Regulator from Voodoo.
I installed first without Regulator because someone had a post here on Modern Buddy it was not necessary, and blew one of the Bulbs the same day. With Regulator, no problems...

I just upgraded to the 3W LED from superbrightleds.com for my running lights/BOB turn lights.

All my other lamps are stock for the moment.

LEDs are not bulbs, they are diodes.
i.e. Light Emiting Diodes
