need new to me scoot

Post by stu »

restarting with bikes as I have a Grandson age 15th next month who I just got a 2007 Ruckus with less than a 1000 miles, which I have been testing out how it works etc. seems a great scooter, I am age 71 200lbs 5' 9" 27" inseam, I think I will get something as well so we can run around some togeather. something 5/7 years old A DO EVERYTHING SCOOTER if there is such a thing our riding would be no highways, 80% paved roads & 20% dirt hunting, fishing etc. nothing over 250cc. We live in New Brunswick Canada very few scooter dealer so service is an issue for a lot of makes I was thinking a Honda Or Yamaha may be my best option? any
modern recommendations for something in the 100/250cc range. Thanks Stu

If you liked the Ruckus you would love the Roughhouse 50cc (RH50). For twice the power the Rattler 110cc is the same everything mostly but far more power. These are 2 stroke engines however, with oil injection so no premixing required. For off the road the adjustable rear shocks are a true blessing.

We do alot of dirt road and gravel pit driving with ours. It's not quite a CT70 Honda....but that's not a scooter either....heh.

What ever you decide on look for fat tires. Our Buddy 50cc does not fare so well off the pavement but does OK there within reason.

Pretty cool gramps wants to get out with his grandson. Not sure what you rode back when you had a motorcycle and what kind of power you're looking for or need. My last motorcycle was a 750cc 14 years ago. I just picked up Rattler 110 and it's great up to 40-50mph. Not much after that. A tad slow up the big hills. I'm an inch shorter than you and 20lbs lighter. The Rattler comes with street tires, but I plan to put something a little more "dual sport" on it when the time comes. I haven't taken it in the dirt, but other have.

I second the RH50. Very capable scoot. Haven't had mine off road but the stock tires are for on/off road adventures. Good luck finding your ride.
