Prima Windscreen

I ordered a Prima Medium windscreen from my dealer in April.

It finally came in last week and I installed it over the weekend. I'm not sure that I really like it. I've adjusted it about seven or eight times now.

Depending on the adjustment I have to put up with:

A) Having the top of the windscreen right in line with my eyesight which is distracting. OR

B) Having the wind sort of circle over me and push down on my helmet so hard that my neck literally cracks when I take off my helmet. OR

C) The wind circles around me and pushes my head forward. OR

D) The fact that the thing is so low that it will keep the wind off my chest (good for when it gets cold) but directs the wind right into the faceshield of my helmet, kinda NOT what I bought the thing for.

Anyone have the Prima medium and like it or rather learn to like it? Anyone have any better luck with the smaller Cuppini Buddy Windscreen?

I like mine fine. The top of the windscreen is several inches below my line of sight and the bottom is just about a quarter to half an inch from the top of the headlight housing.

Unfortunately, a lot of riders wind up buying more than one windshield while trying to find just the right one for their height/size/comfort. I have a short windshield similar to the Cuppini which I like a lot but it often comes down to personal preference. With this one, you may want to consider cutting it down. There are a few tutorials over on ModernVespa on how to do this; a number of people have done it.

I just installed the short one for the '06. If I'm riding with my open-face helmet and non-wrap around shades, the wind bugs my eyes a bit (so, I wear the wrap-arounds or goggles...problem solved). With the full-face with the shield down, it's cool. I have noticed good things though...5 or so mph faster at high speeds, more stablility, and less rider fatigue from blasts to the chest. I think these factors outweigh the wind in the face peeve.

I put a Cuppini "short" windscreen on friday night and rode about a 100 miles that next day. Big, I mean BIG difference in how the scooter feels at higher speeds. Rock solid explains it best. And another thing its done is greatly reduced the fatigue factor. I highly recommend this add-on. Plus, it looks good too.

I also have the cuppini short windscreen, Love it! less wind noise in the helmet, better fuel mileage and about 5mph faster top end, and stability at high speeds is awesome, its like a totally different bike with this windscreen on, best mod I have done so far.......I ordered mine from scooterworks...wsbud3 is the part number.

Right you are, sir. Here's the one that ended up being archived in the Modern Vespa Tech Section because it comes with picture goodness and annotation by another user to make it even better and more user friendly.

Those of you who bought the Cuppini rather than the Prima: why did you choose the Cuppini? It's apparently quite a bit pricier.

Personally I choose the Cuppini because I just thought it looked better on my SI. I wasn't even thinking about the price difference between the two. I also think it might be a bit shorter than the Prima and built with a bit more support and therefore sturdier. One other thing to add, with the included attachment mounts I'm also able to now adjust my mirrors to where they extend a little farther out and I can get a much better view. All in all, worth ever penny...

Cowgirl,

I liked the way the Cuppini screen was more angled(aerodynamic) than the Prima screen.
The Prima screen was more square and vertical. The angles of the Cuppini screen looked sportier to me. I am very pleased with my purchase.
