Ok just got done looking at scooters to day made the 2 hour drive over near detroit michigan to scoot around town scooter shop and had a look around.

i was going to take a look at the tgb r9 150 but they and nun in stock. but this little red buddy 125 was siting there. with the crash bars and foot pegs. id i thik man thats kinda cool, so i think im going to be a buddy owner soon. my wife realy likes the itaila so i think that theres going to be two buddys in the famly. im lookng at the black/silver one but im think of adding a red pinstripe already.
i talked with the salesmen there and he said they do about 65 and yes i know abou the speedos on scooters . now what do real peope that realy own them have to say about top speed . i am 5'10 and 190 pounds.

I considered the TGB as well. My scooter shop had (and still has) them in stock but I chose the Buddy in the end, and no regrets.

The red 07 Buddy looks great and I would have gone that route if it had been available in 06.

There's lots of threads here about top speed if you search a little, but my short answer is I have done an indicated 73mph, and I weigh about the same as you. I do not have a windshield, and I didn't do anything special other than a straight slight downhill. Others have gone faster.

After the break-in and ++ say about 1000 miles your body type should easily be able to cruise @ 60 on the flats. Add a windscreen and/or performance pipe (prima) and around 70.

I'm 6' 4" and go in at 210 lbs and my buddy 125 has no issues with hauling me around at all, 50 to 60 mph, most of my time is spent at zero to 45 mph and I get around 80 mpg give or take.
My sweetie has the SI and mine is black and silver, and we look way cool going down the road

so i made the 137(oneway) trip to scoot around town near detroit mich. i live on the south east side of the state. and checked out the buddys. they had the italia and the standerd in black/silver and a red one i still dont know what color i like best but im think maybe the black . with that im thinking of adding a red pinstripe then it will match my 1984 Hurst/Olds!

man i can wait to get out on the road but most likely well have to wait till spring of 08' get to come up with that 6,500 bucks just one question how long is the brake in time?

Is your dealer asking $6500 for a Buddy 125? If so, please go directly to some other dealer for a more realistic price...

Justscooten , what you could do is get one now and then get the other one when you can afford it. Also if you get the pinstripe, you should get one that's reflective especially if you get the black buddy since they are a little less visible.

you might want to view the episode of King of the Hill before buying one now and one later. That's exactly what Peggy and Hank did. One of my favorite episodes. Maybe even influenced me a bit about whether or not I could ride. If Peggy can do it...

I think that getting a Buddy for you and a Buddy for your wife is great because you will both be able to share this experience. However I am going to play the devil’s advocate for just a minute and provide a reason for getting one Buddy now and another Buddy later.

1 – If you don’t have your Class M Motorcycle driver’s license yet then getting one Buddy now will give you an opportunity and the motivation to get your class M driver’s license now. It takes some time to earn your license and by starting sooner you will have more time to take the MSF course, more time to practice on your Buddy and more time to get your license. This way when Spring arrives both you and your wife are licensed and ready to ride.

2 – A possible way to avoid finance charges. When I purchased my Buddy I financed it with a 90 days same as cash plan. Last week I made my final payment, got it paid off in 90 days and avoided any finance charges. I was able to pay it off in time because I was only financing one Buddy but if I were financing 2 Buddys at the same time I would not have been able to get both paid off within 90 days and I would have ended up paying some pretty hefty finance charges.

3 – It gives you neat stuff to add to your Christmas list like gloves, a Corrazo jacket, a Buddy T Shirt…

I know that these are very weak arguments for getting a Buddy now but the inner child in me would not be able to wait until Spring.

OK, I have dismissed my inner child. Have fun anticipating your 2 Buddys next Spring.

all good points . but heres the big BUT, the long story is this my ford explorer lease is up in march thats a monthly payment of all most 500 bucks . adding even another payment say 90 bucks a month now would make things very tight. we are going to go thought with the learning and the testing together. i already know how to ride just dont have my endorsment yet. but the problem with instent gradification is it take to long!!! that is 137 miles to the scooter shop id rather make the trip only once. at first anyway. thanks though.

Twice, the warranty requires you to get the first oil change/service at the dealer.
