thought on the front chrome rack.
Probably been discussed in other threads, but I would like to hear specifics about the front rack. I am not a huge fan of the punch out holes, but would having the front rack on at least look better than no rack with those perforated punch outs? i hear it can block the light if you load it up too much. The only one i have seen didn't seem to function properly. The base (while folded up when not in use) was attached to a spring that was so hard to pull down, i couldn't get it to budge. did i miss something?? just thought i would get some ideas from those who have them or have opted against them.
i purchased the front rack initially because i hated the punch outs.
however, now that i have it, i can't imagine not having the rack.
it's perfect for picking up pizzas and the like!
it does sound like the one you saw was not functioning properly. the spring provides good resistance but shouldn't be impossible to budge.
peace,
sdw

I initially hadn't had them put on mine when I purchased the full Vespa Chrome kit. Saved $40 or so in labor BUT, the leg shield portion WOULD have taken on the brunt of my spill insteady of the body of my scoot. That's been one of the biggest delays is the dealer outsourcing the painting. The body portion was done 1.5 weeks ago, the leg shield is supposed to be done.
I don't like the look of the rack, clutters up the purtyness of the scoot BUT, as the scoot is my main mode of transport, I'll need my front and back racks more to transport stuff.
I'm looking into collapsible milk crate stuff and the nettings to keep things in the crates. I'm thinking as wasteful as it is of just buying a pack of zip ties and use them as needed...

You must be carrying 20lb pizzas to hold down ANY of the spring-loaded style racks I've come across! Buddy, Vespa, or otherwise.shanew wrote:

I did notice though the chrome rack on the Vespa GTS comes with a plastic clip-on thingy that holds it down. Good idea, but I seemed chintzy. I'd prefer they made them with some sort of built-on mechanism to hold them up/down.

Yet that's the first innovation in front chrome racks in at least 30 years!StL_Stadtroller wrote:I did notice though the chrome rack on the Vespa GTS comes with a plastic clip-on thingy that holds it down. They're definitely not 20lb pizzas, but it works like a f*cking charm.StL_Stadtroller wrote:

It must be a geographical thing... a proper St. Louis style pizza would shoot off on one like a catapult... but I bet a Nashville pizza is loaded down with thick doughey crusts and all kinds of greasy meat and BBQ or somethingshanew wrote:
