The 200cc model has a capacity of 199.89cc, 2 valve SOHC (single overhead camshaft), a 20mm carburettor, four gears, runs on 3.50 x 10 tyres, has a disc brake up front, an Escort damper and is, naturally, air-cooled. It has been suggested that a fuel injected version will arrive in 2012, but we’ll have to wait and see on that.

Claimed power is 8.6kW (which is just shy of 12hp in English), with torque quoted as 14.5Nm @ 4250rpm
So it still has a carb, and just a little bit more powah.
Not a big deal really, just get the 150 which is available now, as opposed to maybe never in the USA for the 200.

I wonder if everybody interested in the new 200cc version could write to Genuine and express interest if this would enable us to get them SOON?
If they have then in the UK there is no reason we cannot have them here. So PLEASE express your interest to Genuine Scooters.

It won't get them here any sooner.

The UK gets a lot of scooters that aren't sold here!

US demand is still pretty soft. Genuine's still recovering from the 4T 150 EPA issues and the two of the worst years for the industry in a couple decades. The cost of importing this would be huge. It's also quite difficult for manufacturers to sell a scooter only 50cc larger than another model it offers at price points that make sense for them and consumers. (Genuine succeeded with the Buddy International 150s, but a lot of buyers got those simply because of the 2-tone colors.)

My guess is Stella 200s come eventually, but 2012 is highly unlikely. Also, LML has an injected 200 Stella, which seems a more likely candidate for US sales.

I wouldn't be temped unless they put a 250cc power plant in her and beefed up the suspension. All fairly easy things to do, having mastered the trick of incorporating a 4-stroke into the frame.

New LML Star 200

Post by Len »

Some info I found:

Star 4T 200cc is the latest summer news from LML Italia.
The aesthetics of this model differs for many features from the previous engines, with a restyling on all 2012 MY which emphasises new designs, such as the turn indicators, where the application support is larger and the chromium plating is optimised, or the saddle, made from different material to favour comfort, and an even more vintage look.
LML has paid particular attention to the safety aspect, providing some features such as the front headlamp, with an internal parabola for greater luminosity thanks to a more powerful and visible beam of light, as well as the rear stoplights, with greater lighting power and the addition of reflectors on the splash guards. Even the instrument panel has been enhanced with a warning light which indicates that the transmission is in neutral and one for the rear stoplights which lights up when the brake pedal is pressed.

The new 200 cubic centimetre engine, with maximum power of 8.6 kW and torque of 14.5 Nm which allow high performance at high and low rpms, is equipped with a series of catalytic converters and an innovative secondary air system which makes it Euro 3 compliant. The FAST (Flexible Air Suction Technology) system, which makes the engine unique, was made with flexible rubber tubing mounted on a filter box which moves together with the engine, thereby avoiding clogging of the air filter and obtaining greater engine performance. Also, the entirely new engine, which has a different weight distribution with the load distributed more on the front axle, transforms the balance of the scooter, providing a more balanced and compact. An innovative sensation that will not escape the Star 4T 200cc rider, with mileage at 50 km/litre. The Star 4T 200cc clutch was also completely redesigned with innovative bell discs. The new clutch, which is equipped with a pressure plate with ball bearings, 5 cork channels and 4 conductors, is characterised by its ease of handling in changing gears. Finally, a new lubrication system, with external infeed, is functional to serve the cylinder head and to obtain low friction.

Sounds like they just adopted the Stella 4T version of the instrument panel in lieu of the old LML configuration.

Given the appearance of the engine, I really doubt the claim of an "entirely new engine." I'll wager it is just a bored and stroked version of the 150. Likely the engine weighs a bit more, and thus "transforms the balance."

Yup, all that "all new" stuff they describe is what is already on the 150...

Does anybody know if this larger engine makes much more top end? I'm not expecting it to become a sportbike by any means but another 10 to 15 mph would be useful.

It will through sheer displacement, but there's really no way of knowing how much of a difference until some people get them and ride them.

Check out the LML Great Britain club. They'll have them there long before we will: http://www.lmlocgb.co.uk/
