carry a pizza on a scooter
what is your way to carry a pizza on a scooter?
I grabbed a $5 little Caesar's Pizza last night and had a interesting time. and it did get cold, fast.
There must be a better way. what have you done?

Have never tried it, but I would say if this is something you want to be a regular activity...I would invest in one of these.

Once you obtain one of those, the next step is to get your favorite pizza joint's delivery uniform (usually a hat, shirt, or both) and wear it when you order a delivered pizza. With bag in hand, open the door, take the pizza from the startled delivery person's hands and say, "Thanks! I'll take it from here!" and shut the door, like it's a relay race.bluebuddygirl wrote:Have never tried it, but I would say if this is something you want to be a regular activity...I would invest in one of these.

Re: carry a pizza on a scooter
You didn't mention how you carried it that didn't work as well as you'd like. Seams like a pie should fit on the back of the Stella seat without too much problem If you didn't want to invest in one of those thermal bags mentioned earlier, I thinking a couple of towels would insulate it pretty well.Lovelandstella wrote:what is your way to carry a pizza on a scooter?

Heheh - I haven't tried hauling a pie on the scoot, but when I'm getting a carry-out from one of the 'good' places 15 minutes away or more, I ask 'em to do it half-baked - just long enough to set the cheese and dough, then I finish it at home in the oven. No worries about keeping it warm on the ride home. Many places around here will do that with no problem.

you are right- that's fair!Howardr wrote:You didn't mention how you carried it that didn't work as well as you'd like. ...Lovelandstella wrote:what is your way to carry a pizza on a scooter?

I did one similar to Eric's:

but MUCH less "clean":
I have a 3 way rear rack that includes the rear folding rack on the stella,
I can't tell if it is as big as the folding rack that Eric has - but the pizza was definitely bigger than my rack.
I did NOT have a bungie net- just 3 single bungies of various lenghts.
as you may imagine it was a pain in the butt and it seemed as though was barely held in place.
and the wind did play a factor in cooling it- it was okay for me. though it turned my fresh pizza into old "much later that night" pizza. (not everybodies favorite.)
my proposed solution:
* keeping it on there:
- I am thinking a bungie cargo net is a good idea- I already ordered one - just haven't used it yet.
* keep it hot:
- get one of those cold grocery bags - kinda like this first one I goolgled
that way I can slide it on the pizza box and/or wrap it around it and drive home.
Whatever my solution- I was hoping it'd be compact so I could always keep it with the scooter. that way, if I am asked to "pick something up on the way home" I can do so without making multiple trips. Scooting places is fun- but not when everybody is hungry and waiting for me.

when I find a working solution- I will post it here.

Really? The link that bluebuddygirl shared aboved seemed like a pretty good deal if you want to carry pizza on bag with any sort of regularity.ericalm wrote:Rear rack and bungies, FTW.
It does cool a bit. Those pizza bags are hard to find cheap and used!

The Auto-Motos are cool! I thought about getting one of those for a while, but decided on the Buddy instead. I may still end up getting the regular model evenutally.Southerner wrote:You could just invest in one of these:

If my local dealer had one of these in a 150 when I was looking, I might never have gotten the SYM. Awesome in their ugliness.Southerner wrote:You could just invest in one of these:

I'm glad you found that. I remembered those but could not dredge up the name. It's called "getting old."Syd wrote:If my local dealer had one of these in a 150 when I was looking, I might never have gotten the SYM. Awesome in their ugliness.Southerner wrote:You could just invest in one of these:

I have actually seen an Automoto. A local guy who usually deals in golf carts had one on his lot. I was surprised how nice and well-finished it looked.

There is another variation out of China that includes a large open-topped tray in the front as well. It is, uhh, interesting to look at.Southerner wrote:I'm glad you found that. I do this--but then I built a special platform that holds more than the stock rack does....that's two large pizzas.
