Something for Nothing

Post by Syd »

Does anyone know anything about the Something for Nothing rally in Northern Arizona? I think this coming weekend? I saw a mention of it somewhere, but I can't remember where. I just remember Flag, Sedona, Cornville....

I may well be out of town this weekend, and even if I am around, I'm not sure how comfy I'd be with a bunch of experienced riders on the switchbacks of 89A, but who knows?

Yes, the Something For Nothing rally is this coming Saturday. It traditionally begins in Flagstaff at ten-ish. I don't know the exact location of the meet this year, though...but I DO have a solution. A bunch of the Scarabs from both Tucson and Phoenix are camping at the campground on top of Mingus Mtn. on Friday night. I will be riding up to the parking area below the campground (still on top of Mingus Mtn.) at about 8. We will then be riding like madmen down Mingus, through Jerome, into Cottonwood, on through Sedona and up Oak Creek Canyon to Flagstaff, where hopefully we will meet up with the Flag scooter contingent. You are more than welcome to join us. The official ride is then back down through the canyon and Sedona and Cottonwood and Jerome, back up on top of the mountain to camp again Saturday night.

As for riding crazily in the the canyon, some of us do, some of us don't...don't sweat it, there will be someone else probably riding at a pace you'd be comfortable with. It's a great time, Jim!

For more info., e-mail me at [email protected] and I'd be glad to give you more details.

Thanks Keys,

As it turns out, it was skutergruven I saw the mention of Something for Nothing. Small world.

Then I remembered how to search Google and found some contact info for the rally. I'll post any good info I receive. I sure do hope I can make it up this weekend.

yo syd, you can often find banter about rallies in and around the valley at the scarabs website.... fall classic is coming up in november, and there will be a healthy contingent riding from phoenix to tucson, then from tucson to nogales, and it is sure to be a hell of a good time... the scarabs are pretty open to whoever riding with, whether its a rally or one of the monthly semi-organized scarab rides... check it...

I'm stuck in the valley this weekend (buggers), so I look forward to the Skutergruven update.
