How many have had bad regulators?

Post by Perkussion »

I am burning out headlight bulbs because of a bad regulator.
I was wondering how many other Genuine owners have had the same problem.

If it's happened to you was it fixed quickly or was there a long wait for parts?
It's been at the dealer for over a week and I going through scooter withdrawal.

Yep, mine was bad. Blew out my headlight, speedo light, tail light, and license plate light. Called POC to get the parts and was told it was covered under my warranty :D . I rolled in after work and they had me back on the road in half an hour. Gotta love my boys (and the gals too) at POC.

I once had a bad motivator on an R2 unit. Good thing I caught it before it was too late, so they replaced it with a little blue one. He had a little carbon scoring, but was otherwise in excellent condition

Sadly, the country is full of bad Regulators. That's one reason why our country is in a credit crisis.

Oh, you mean a Buddy regulator. :D I hope they get your part soon! You could call around and get one shipped to you.

Yep. Had mine go bad too - took out all the AC lights (headlight, speedo light and license plate light). It took my dealer a week to get the parts and it was fixed in one day (morning drop off, evening pick up, probably didn't take all day to replace the regulator and bulbs). This was about 3 weeks ago and they got the parts from Scooterworks - all under warrenty.

Well, I'm glad you're all enjoying yourselves so much :P
I think we need a regulator for all these bad regulator jokes! :x

Obviously there are more regulator puns than problems around here,
so I'll just wait it out. :(

Bad Voltage Regulator

Post by LibrlDemo »

My husband and I both have 2006 Genuine Buddy 125s. I haven't had any problems, however, my husband's Buddy has had issues with the Voltage Regulator.

While still under warranty, he had to have the voltage regulatro replaced and it took about one month. That was in July 2008. Ever since the regulator was replaced, he has been blowing light bulbs. He has not had the second one replaced yet. He just keep replacing bulbs every month.

I just had the regulator go bad on my 2007 Buddy 125, but I did get 12,000 miles out of the thing. It went bad in a weird way: Instead of just putting out to much voltage as most do when they go bad, mine had 3-4 v DC with a 9-11 v AC component.
