Ever heard of the Honda Vision 50?

Post by Southerner »

I don't know if you guys ever pick up a Brit mag called Motorcycle Sport & Leisure, but the new issue is out and it's got lots of stuff in it about big scoots, most notably the new Beemers, the Honda NC700X and the revamped (including price! ) T-Max.

Further back is a short article about the Vision. Honda seems to have put an awful lot of effort into designing a new 50cc putt-putt. It's a big wheel scooter (you can even choose between a 14 or 16" front wheel) with linked brakes, EFI and electric start. They seem to have put a lot of thought into storage as well. I don't know if this one will make it to the U. S. but it sure seems nice, although it will undoubtedly have a Honda price on it.

If I had to guess, it will probably cost about as much as the most expensive Buddy. Three guess which way I'd go, and the first two don't count.

I have not heard of the 50 cc, but I have read about the Vision 110 which one would think is a replacement for the Elite 110 which I'm riding, based on the articles I have read in the French press. Not sure if it would be a smart move as the Vision 110 does not have liquid cooling or the under seat storage that the Elite has.

The Vision looks like a slighty smaller SH.

As for that NC700x/s,
129 mph, automatic, 79 mpg, dummy fuel tank thats actually a storage container. me want

I agree about the 700. Just waiting for the other shoe to drop, i.e.: when they announce the MSRP.

Honda is one confusing beast when it comes to naming its bikes!

Until recently the US Elite was called the Lead in the UK. The Lead was also the name of a model from the '80s that was replaced by the Vision, but neither the new one nor the Elite in the US were the same as the Vision.

The Vision is part of the Honda NH family, which evolved from the old Aero. The NH series includes both the old and new Lead and the new US Elites. The only reason they're called Elite in the US is marketing; Americans were more familiar with the name. The original Elites were part of the CH series and have little connection to the ones sold here now.

The Vision replaced the Lead/Elite in the UK (possibly in 2011). So the US may be the only market still selling that Lead/Elite 110 and I believe is the only place the "Elite" name is still in use.
