ecu fix

Post by batgirl101 »

so i had that issue with the engine light coming on at high speeds and wrote to Genuine. although it only happened once, it bugged me to have to watch the damn thing when I'm on the freeway. even tho these scoots aren't ideal for extended freeway use, i do go out for an hour or so, varying the throttle so as not to strain the engine. ( don't flame me dammit!)
Genuine discovered there were a small number of the 170 where the ecu was set too low and had mine sent in for re-setting.
took Max out yesterday on a 185 mile ride, an ambitious 60% of that freeway and no problem at all.

Glad things worked out. I haven't had any problems yet, but I've been aware of that issue and worried about it. I guess even if there is a problem I won't have to lose sleep over it.

Thank you for taking the time to post about it here!

Hey batgirl101, thanks for the heads-up! That's really good news.

P.S Please be careful on the freeway.

So...You just mailed it in to them and the reset the ECU? Thats GREAT news. Sounds like the CEL problem has a solution :)

On a side note....wish we had 185 mile ride weather here
Speed is only a matter of money...How fast do you want to go?

Genuine contacted my scooter shop about the fix--they sent it in. it was supposed to take a couple of days, but we caught them right at the Christmas holiday, so it was more like a week.

i rode 201 miles today, think I'm done for a while, just had to take advantage of this last bit of good weather.
