New Scoot! content

Post by Syd »

I just received an email from Scoot! (remember them?), which says there is new content in the Scoot! Club. Can't check it out tonight, but if you are a member but never check the email address you signed up with, Pull out your credentials and check it out.

Glad you reminded me. I just ran across that yesterday.

I know magazines in general are hitting it rough but you would think ONE scooter magazine for North America would have a decent chance of survival. I sure did enjoy it.

I missed the magazine too. Reading it on line is okay but I like to have something in my hand that I can look at over and over.

...which is why I just can't support them anymore. By going online only, it is my opinion they were telling you and me we aren't important to them anymore.

I am also on a focus (car) site. I moderate there. There was a focus national magazine. It only lasted 5 issues :(....Though they sold everyone they printed...

I would like to look for ome scoot magazines. Any good ones from Europe to recommend?

I must respectfuly disagree. By going online, they are publishing in the only way that their financial situation would allow. I, too, miss the hard copy dead-tree edition, but respect the publishers enough to realize that their choice was guided by the harsh realities of the publishing world.

They are not just publishers, but scooterists in their own right. There is a difference between making money in the life and making money from the life. These are not fly-by-night exploiters, but rather riders interested in promoting and documenting scoot life.
when the going gets weird, the weird turn pro.

I agree think they published hardcopy as long as they could.

I have no argument with Scoot! trying to develop a new business model when publishing hardcopy was no longer viable for them. I do have a problem with the fact that they solicited - and received - money from many of us to set up a new web-based magazine/content and then have not delivered. And I just checked their website. No new material that I can see. Certainly not a new e-zine.

Also true. I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt and just assume that they were and somewhat still are overwhelmed. I ain't going to ask for my ten buck back now.

It looks like they need to do a little work on their demo site, too...

I couldn't sign in and contacted them. They responded and told me I was paid up through September and that if I was having problems, I could change my password. Problem is, it's not taking my username.

Doesn't really matter. There is no new content to access.

agreed, same with the iPhone. Only 5 minutes of Cut the Rope and my legs are numb below the knees.

Electronic mag reading on the Touchpad is not too bad. I had a $25 gift certificate from Zinio so I re-upped my subscription to [/I]Motorcyclist and added Twist & Go as well.

Quite usable in bed or on the potty or whatever. It's not perfect but the tablet is more like a real mag than a laptop.
