Engine failure?
So I'm riding tonight, pull up to some lights and the bike feels like it's trying to pull a little - it's not wanting to stay stationary. The revs are up, and remain above whats normal. I pull away, and a lot of smoke coming from the exhaust pipe.
Any suggestions, blown rings? fixable? Ahhhhhhhhhh

How did it run after that?
Could be a stuck carb float, pull the spark plug and have a look. Gotta figure out what it is first. Also, if you can find the drain screw under the carb, try draining the carb and restart it . See what that does.

Thanks for the insight guys.
If you stop the engine, and restart it, there is a lot of oily smoke, as you wind open the throttle, the smoke goes away.
The exhaust was blowing yesterday (both nuts came off of the new Prima pipe - not sure why) not sure how long for, I had ear plugs in and only noticed it when I went out to the gas station later on without earplugs in!
There is definitely some gremlins going on (unrelated I know) but the Speedo also died yesterday also! My wife is going crazy at me......

Is the smoke white or black?
White smoke would indicate oil getting into in the combustion chamber, and black smoke too much gas.
If its oil then the rings would be the primary suspect and this could indicate a rebuild.
And of course gas problems may be pointing to your carb.

Well it "let go" this morning on the way to the Orlando Genuine dealership...
Lost all compression, rattled a bit then stopped.
White smoke, so I would guess piston rings, with a damaged bore / piston. Will get it into the shop and see if they will rebuild the top end, the crank is turning over, so I guess it may be rebuildable......

pretty good guess considering the prima pipe was not installed properly and the scooter run for a time like thateasy wrote:sounds like with the loose exhaust you run it long enough to burn valves if you lucky maybe just need a head and cylinder
just sayin' because someone in my apartment complex had a similar thing going on with a 250cc cycle and a week later it was valve job city
