Water in Gas

Well, I believe Ive got some water in my gas. Ive had this problem before, so Im fairly positive this is the correct diagnosis. But it ONLY has happened twice at WOT.(I lose power and it gives a backfire sometimes) I think this is because at WOT, Im actually getting to the bottom of the carb bowl, where the water would accumulate. Does this sound like a good guess or am I talking out my ass? I do have that tendency sometimes.

There's always HEET (methanol) - add a proper amount to a tankful and see. SeaFoam (naptha) also claims to be a water-drier.

Water in the gas will settle on the bottom of the tank's low spot. Do you see
any when you check with a light. Also Sta-bil will help rid the water since the ethanol gas will tend to absorb water. I would also drain the carb float bowl maybe that will help clean out any water if any got to the carb?

Thanks you learn something every day. Regarding the water in gas if still has a problem would recommend siphon or drain out the tank and start with fresh gas. I have a sediment bowl on a vintage car for a fuel filter right after the gas tank, and you can clearly see water settled on the bottom of the glass sediment bowl. I usually add some stabil with each gas up as well trying to be proactive.

After the large dose of Stabil I have had NO problems. The engine seems to be running a bit better, altough this my be my imagination.

Glad to hear it. As long as it works. Hopefully will have mine up and running soon today still only 22 degrees this am. Local scooter shop indicated to use Sta-bil on a regular basis and Sea-foam for the carb cleanout once in a while but not together.

^^^ My dealer gave me the exact same advice. These little engines are sensitive to ethanol gas. Hope you get some good weather soon.
