scoot's got a bent wheel...ggrrr!!!

Post by kmrcstintn »

scoot's got a bent wheel (aka: Bianca's got an injured foot)...now she gets R & R while I wait for a new front wheel to arrive; I so luv half-assed sinkhole repairs that sink in after a few months...my borough did a rush job sink hole repair last fall on my road that had sunk enough a few weeks later that the worst part got an asphalt plug and recently a new section started to break through; guess who discovered the problem and by what method??? you got it...I was riding home and hit the damned thing in the dark

the wheel is so bent that a high spot developed on the tire that causes vibration/shimmy as I ride; after the shop pulled the wheel and spun it on their balancer stand the severity was soon showing...it was worse than I was feeling as I rode :(

you may want to contact your city about this, many locales are bound by law to cover expenses for damage caused by poor road conditions albeit some require you not to be the first to report damage from a specific pothole.

Lokky, considering where kmrcstintn lives, the 'sink hole capital of Central Pa' I think the boro might go broke pretty darned fast if they had to do that all the time, but it is definitely worth looking into.

kmrcstintn, I drove through a couple weeks ago in route to the VA Hospital in a 'work' van, hit a couple of sink hole induced whoop-de-doos on 422, I think I jarred loose some of my dental work! (Not to mention my patient in his chair in the back)
It was raining, and the local PD had cruisers sitting by the worst of it slowing traffic because I know those spots will hold water and cause issues, is that SOP these days?

I have noticed some stretches of road noticably deteriorating around here as well. By where I work, there's this one batch of road divots that have been repaired at least 3 times that I'm aware of.

One would think it would be more cost effective to have them repaired right the FIRST time....

thanks for the 'call the borough' suggestion, but they are pig-headed and blow the citizens off...they had a whole section of the road blocked off when doing this repair (they could have left enough room for 1 lane of traffic) & people were cutting through the parking lots & over grass in front of the townhouses to get around it...guess they got so many P-O'ed calls from homeowners/renters that the next day they had a lane open...LOL

another 'whoop-de-doos' area that jars the crap out of me is on 743/230 heading into downtown E-Town near the sharp right turn...I can't go more than 15mph through there and cage drivers get upset with me alot; one time I pulled over, let one pass & saw the driver get bounced from the divots caused by semi-trucks driving through there; I caught up with him at the light at High Street & his window was down so I yelled in 'now you know why I slow down coming through there!!! stay off my butt next time!!!' before making the turn; as I say experience it the BEST teacher (just like pulling over for someone weaving in & out of traffic...and then seeing that car pulled over by a cop down the road)

Having lived in and around 'Town' for the better part of 30+ years I know how to get around there thus avoiding that turn, can be a *itch sometimes though.
E-town boro says the state should take care of it since it's a state road, the state says otherwise since it's within the boro limits!
I just wonder why we can't build roads that last these days, the Romans did four thousand years ago and some of those roads are still in use!

^^^ Budget, its all about the money

Have that tire checked, too. Sometimes a bad hit can break the cords in the tire ,too.

will do on the tire when they dismount it when the new wheel arrives; rode a bit carefully today to prep for an oil change & afterward to check for leaks...everything seems no worse for wear, but regular riding til repairs are done is halted; gives me more time on the buell learning to better master shift points and cursing as 'shaky' tries to vibrate my fillings loose
