Need Help: Noise coming from tranny
Hey guys, I don't usually make it over to this side of the forum but it seems to have a lot more traffic so I thought I would give it a try. Ive got a 2007 Rattler Buck 110 and am having some technical difficulties.
Problem:
I was riding a couple of days ago and I was pulling a hill when this clicking noise started coming from the trans. I pulled over and the noise stopped while it was idling, but when I gave it gas again and started across the parking lot, the noise returned. It seems to be more speed based verses rpm based but it doesn't start until the clutch engages and doesn't really stop until I'm barely rolling right before I stop... I took the CVT cover off, variator out, and clutch assembly off, reapplied them and the clicking is still there. I have no idea what it is, so any possible solutions suggestions will be greatly appreciated! Thanks guys.

I changed the gear oil thinking maybe that was the problem the night after it happen and the noise is still there. Im not sure if its "one revolution" or not but that sounds about right. Not to fast, not to slow as far as the clicking goes. I took the variator apart and the slider weights are showing some signs of wear but not enough to worry about, barely getting a flat spot on them. Thanks guys for trying to help me out, I really appreciate it. Even if it goes to a "double entry" thread @pugbuddy

Yep, you guys were getting warm. When I changed the gear oil, I had it pumped out so I never looked at it. I took it back apart this afternoon, opened the gear box and the new oil had so many metal flakes in it, it looked like the paint on a hispanic low rider. So who knows what the old oil looked like. But sure enough, the gears were a mess.
