Buddy in 55mph zone

Post by Raiderfn311 »

Ive put 4300 miles on my Buddy, but those are mostly city miles in 35-45mph zones. Today I got an extended trip on a 55 mph limit road and my feelings are this....I LOVE THIS F-ing scoot! Cruises at 55(60+BMPH) all day long with just enough power left to make a move here or there. Passed a red LX150 BTW. Gave the guy a nod and he looked at me as if I were a pig. Go figure. As far as the Buddy, If there is a better "bang for the buck" scooter, Im all ears. CHEERS!

Thumbs up. This makes me miss mine. Le sigh.

My shop HAD a St Tropez on consignment for 1900. I haven't received any settlement monies. I would've been damn tempted if I had.

I am sure anything I would be interested in is gone, what with the mini scooter boom going on.

So no $ for the 170 yet either? I was in an accident many years ago and it took a LONG time to settle. So good to hear you are ready to jump back on a scoot. Another thing about my little ride today that was cool-People respected my space! This may have been because when they first saw me they figured I was going 35. :) I am just really happy with my Buddy right now. Money well spent! I dont need a pill to get in a better mood!(although I would love some of those pain meds you are getting  )Do you think you want another Buddy when you get back riding? I would, I just raised the question cause its so fun looking around.

I think you're right about this. One of the supervisors where I work asked me how I secure my ride today. Possibly the absolute last person in the world I would expect to ask about riding a scooter. I love the fact that such a diverse group asks me about it, and I love that I get to spread the Good Word to them all.

I don't love that the only Genuine dealer within 100+ miles decided to concentrate on other interests, but a scoot is a scoot is a scoot, right? I'd consider a new Honda for my next bike (I'd buy a good super cub in a heartbeat... I'm just not sure which bike I'd sell to make room in the stable...).

Im gonna get a good used MC. I saw a 1982 GS1100 for $2500 awhile back I regret not snapping up. Low miles, but I didnt go look at it. It looked nice, plus I would give it a new seat and et al.

I ride my stock Buddy 125 to work quite frequently using the carpool lane, or in the slow lane--depending on how fast the carpool lane is going. I think a lot of cagers are amazed that I keep up with them at 60 mph.

btw, my commute is 10 miles one way. In my car it takes 40-45 minutes or so...on the scooter it takes 20-25 minutes. Love it!

^^^My commute is 10 each way, but I have to deal with alot of 18-wheelers and dumptrucks in a 45mph road. Lotta railroad tracks, which you need to know the soft-spots on. Lots of fun IMHO.

Glad to hear! It will be a bit before actual break-in, but I'm getting there. Later this summer there are some rides that will surely have some 55+ spots, and I wanted to know if I could do it well. Seems the 150 will be fine.

150 is good to go. even with my 240lbs on it 55mph is no prob on level ground, good conditions, etc.

as a contrast at 55mph my Agility 125 has just about had it

The top end is the finest BONUS of a broken-in motor.

I love the Agility125 at its price. Then there is the Typhoon125 at 2655. I wish they had a sporty style in a 150ish model. I have thought about buying the Typhoon to trick out. 170 or something bore kit. FUN.
