Belt and clutch life?

Post by 2wheelNsanity »

How long does a belt typically last. I inspected mine and I can not really tell if it is worn or not. I have 3500 miles on the stock belt. Also, what is the life of a stock clutch?

Anywhere from 4K-8K. I'm sure some will say theirs have lasted more or less.

It really depends on how you ride and various conditions.

Best to start checking it at the 4K service, though.

Clutch will last much longer depending on maintenance. Tens of thousands of miles.

not sure about the actual life, but my local dealer had said something like "we keep a wary eye on it at 5k, but it tends to be more toward 7.5-10k that we actually end up replacing them, though they can go longer."

Hopefully a lot more 1st-hand people will respond, but I would say at 3500 miles, you're not even close.

I believe belts are changed at 7k intervals but I never owned a buddy myself so don't quote me on that :)
