2012 Kymco Super 8 150cc good or bad?

can someone tell me if 2012 Super 8 is a good scooter or not?.... it's easy to get part?...

I was short on time before so couldn't let you know my own experience with Kymco has been good. The scooter (Agility 125) is holding up well over several thousand hard rode miles. In its first few thousand the engine developed a problem that led to a replacement. Chip the warranty guy at Kymco USA took care of it with a no questions asked whole new engine. Well, expect for service records. Which were few but existent. It was a painless experience and the scooter is stronger then ever.

My 125cc is essentially the same as the 150cc which is essentially the same as the Kymco 163cc. So research on just about any of them will turn up similar stories of quality and durability. Just a slightly different displacement for all three. But even the 125 is a pretty good goer

Rode mine to Amerivespa rally in 2009 in Los Gatos, CA. Was stolen last year from my driveway and trashed by the thieves...

Replaced it with Buddy 125. The Kymco Super 8 handles well, decent power, big wheels. But the suspension is really stiff, and the seat not all that comfortable. It was just breaking in when stolen.

why steal something that has no value once it is stolen? Just to trash it and show the person that probably uses it as primary transport? grrrr.....

She was my little escape from reality...thanks for your kind words. I have a Chevy for transportation, but she was my little time machine...went to visit old neighborhoods where I grew up, visit city streets never seen before. If I knew how to post photos I would show you what they did to her. She was a total loss, nothing could be salvaged. Even broke every panel, ripped out the ignition, stole the battery, even the license plate hoping it couldn't be traced. Motor was trashed, too. Something in the oil Seat latch broken. Wiring harness trashed. Last picture I had of "Scootie" was at Amerivespa on a posted video at Alice's Restaurant. She got in one good ride before her time was up. Hope the (&^)(*(* who stole her burn in heck....at least they got one good fingerprint off of her because one of the dummies decided to put their hand on the frame without gloves

I keep "Scootie Too" in the backyard with my ferocious Cocker Spaniel to keep an eye out.... just to be safe.

Kymco probably has the best parts supply among scooter companies. I've heard this from a few dealers.

I have 2 kymcos and they are a quality scooter from Taiwan. Parts are available from Scooter Assasins and have had good experience from them.
Kymco also can call Kymco usa for some tech help. Thinking of replacing one with a Stella will know better when see one at a Boston dealer.

My local dealer stressed the good parts supply network and support they get from Kymco USA as the main reasons he went with the brand.

I'm sure the Super 8 is a fine machine but it has a modern look that doesn't work for me. OTOH, the Blur is also a modern look but I find that one very attractive. Not that looks make a difference in quality.

Ah yes the Super 8. Well I bought one in late summer. and after 628 miles and 4 trips back to the dealer, I traded in on a used Honda Sh150i. Bad head light, fuel flow required a hole drilled in the gas cap (WTF), and the turn signal switch failed and killed the whole electrical system. Four push or trailer it home evenings in 600+ miles. The mechanic gave me a look that I read as a "I don't want to work on this POS any more..." And the Honda is a great scooter. But in some way I miss the Super, it was great! When it Ran... R

Not uncommon for carbed bikes. My father-in-law had a 2000-something Yamaha that needed the same fix.

I own a 2013 Kymco Super 8 150cc, which I purchased new about 14 months ago for $2100.00 It's a solid enough scooter with decent power (appx. 10HP) It's made in China & the fit & finish is just OK IMHO. I only have a little over 1000 miles on her as I keep it @ my parents home in Florida which I visit 4-5 times a year.

This is my 4th Kymco & they all have been very reliable. As one poster mentioned, the ride is a tad stiff & the seat is a little on the hard side. I took care of that with an Airhawk seat cushion. I like the 14" wheels vs. the smaller 12" that's on the Agility 125. When I took delivery, I had some paint over spray on one of the panels (2013 models have a red/white & black color scheme in my case) Kymco promptly replaced the panel without question.

In regards to parts, I think Kymco is one of the best in the US. Plus, they aren't terribly expensive like some other scooter manufacturers are. The few times I needed parts, I received them from my local dealer (Cycles 128 in Beverly, MA.) within a few days. I needed a new front fender on my GT300i, that @ the time was pretty new scoot & received it in 3 days.

I wouldn't recommend the 2014 Super 8 @ $2499.00 now. I think it's priced too high for want you get. It's basically your standard GY6 engine with front discs & rear drum brakes. There is simply too much competition now (Lance PCH 125 @ $1899.00) to pay an extra $600.00 for basically the same type of scooter. If you can get a solid deal, then go for it.
