Help!! my wife needs a nice 'cute' summer jacket and can't
seem to find anything she likes. I bought her a Corazzo 5.0 jacket last year for Christmas but now she needs an XS jacket for the summer.
She likes the Corazzo 5.0 because of the cut on her XS frame and other jackets make her look a bit masculine since she's so small, any suggestions? Her birthday was on Saturday so I need to get her a belated B-Day gift like fast.

Not sure how much money you're willing to spend, but there's always GoGoGear.
Since she is tiny and won't have fit problems like I do, lemme see what I can find that looks feminine and get back to you... I remember seeing lots of jackets when I was looking and thinking "man, I wish they made that in my size"

Here's the question that you will probably never be able to answer.. what does she consider "cute"?
I bet she does have fit problems though being so tiny. Not limited to jackets making her look masculine. My sister who is 34, is 4' 8" tall and wears size 00 jeans. She has to shop for her clothes at certain (generally more expensive) stores because average people aren't THAT small, so most stores don't bother to carry anything so tiny for adults.
As far as mesh motorcycle jackets for women go.. I think this one would be considered "cute"... right? It has like roses and stuff on the back anyway...
I have always liked the Scorpion Nip Tuck Jacket in "Spring" as far as cuteness goes, I'm not all about my stuff being cute though.
(these both come in x-small btw)

Firstgear Contour Mesh
Has some feminine lines, no logos or graphics all over it, and very nice color choices. Firstgear's a good company too!!
Scorpion Women's Nip Tuck I know it comes in this blue, call MCSuperstore about it, they may be able to order it. Otherwise they should take the pic down. I'm sure you could find the blue elsewhere. Scorpion sometimes does stupid graphics... there may be a logo or graphic on the back.
Spidi Women's Netix Jacket The white version of this jacket has black shoulder accent that I think would help make the shoulders look less broad, reducing the 'this makes me look manly' effect. Call Motorcycle Superstore, though, bc I don't know anything about this brand and the item description makes it sounds like it doesn't come with armor in it already.
Rev'it! Women's Air Jacket Rev'it does their stuff in a tasteful euro-cut that looks great on small/thin framed people. And they don't plaster logos and graphics like Joe Rocket/Icon/sometimes Scorpion.
If your wife is okay with logos and graphics and wants some pink or purple (with black) in her life, check out Joe Rocket. Their jackets have a very fitted (read-the pics look like the waist is small and short) cut and some neat designs. Scorpion sticks to black and white usually.
Here's the 2 pages at Motorcycle Superstore, there are some other jackets that may jump out at you. If you run into a snag, have a question about a product (like sizing), call them- they have an outstanding customer service line.

I'm nearly clueless about fashion, but Alpine Stars makes a pink riding jacket. I saw it this morning at Cycle Gear.

Sexy jacket
This is a late posting, but I have yet to buy an actual motoring jacket because i can't find anything cute/sexy. I finally found one at Motorcycle Superstore that I'm going to buy. It's simple and feminine and could almost pass as a regular jacket.
Thought I'd share since i've been looking for a year now: http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/1/ ... acket.aspx
They are currently sold out of 'smalls' tho in both colors.... grrrr! I don't think it comes in xs

I like that, it looks nice and fitted!
I think I'm going to need a mesh/summer jacket, even though it doesn't get that hot here in WNY. I just ordered this yesterday, http://www.gogogearla.com/products/%22T ... BLACK.html
I did order the hologram last week, but when it came it was way too big and a tad flashy for everyday wear. So I returned it.

That is definitely nice looking. Love the Go Go gear stuff. Found a great First Gear ladie's mesh in a slate grey with no pink and no ridiculous logos. Can't do pink, it clashes with Manuel lol. And lilac is not my thing. Not that I think those colors shouldn't be available, but why oh why do they think if we are females that we must want pastels. Some of us want to be more... Emma Peel

I do like that trench jacket... not so much the price tho. I struggle with getting something like that versus something with more protection. We hate to think of the unthinkable, but should something happen, I hope i have some pads in my jacket to protect my purdy little self! lol

From someone who used to live in Rochester/Irondequoit, and spent considerable time visiting a step-sister in Buffalo--- you will need a mesh summer jacket. It gets hot enough around here that a black riding jacket will make you miserable in the summer sun and humidity.AlleyOops wrote:I think I'm going to need a mesh/summer jacket, even though it doesn't get that hot here in WNY.

I got the Corrazzo trench coat. The price was a bit much but it has armor in the shoulders, elbows and back, plus it looks like a pretty normal ladies trench coat and I can wear it to work. I love the go go gear military looking jacket and a few others as well. They look like normal, and stylish as well street clothes.

I just spent the last three hours scouring the internet for the Scorpion Nip Tuck in either Purple/white or Baby Blue/white, but somehow the jackets I like always end up being the ones that just don't exist anymore. At least, not in my size. (My helmet is white and pastel blue/lavendar, and Lokky's Stella is powder blue, so I want my jacket to be either light colored also or VERY neutral... i.e., all black, all gray, etc.)
But then I found this... Power Trip Ladies 'Ronin'... a black denim armored jacket for $40 with no ridiculous graphics or logos that comes in a plus size? Yes please. Found MY summer jacket.

I wanted the light blue Scorpion NipTuck too, but before it sold out on both LeatherUp and MC-Superstore they only had it in XS. I'm still mad that they aren't bringing it back in that color-- and hoping they come out with a new color scheme for that jacket that's colorful, and not just black/grey/white again.LunaP wrote:Uh.. thanks.AlleyOops wrote:Good to knowAWinn6889 wrote: From someone who used to live in Rochester/Irondequoit, and spent considerable time visiting a step-sister in Buffalo--- you will need a mesh summer jacket. Though, the REVIT Air in light blue/silver is a close match.
I'm still looking at the Johnny Rocket Cleo 2.0 in the light bluey-tealy color, maybe the purple just because I painted the scoot purple... idk.
Or the First Gear Contour Mesh Jacket in gold or pink.
I really don't care if my gear is pastel-y or not, after all, I am a girl, and there's no shame in looking like one while riding!
...PLUS the lighter the colors, the cooler it will be! (and more visible!)

Ahh..sorrry, I REALLY didn't mean that the way it came across!! It's just not my style really and seems like a lot of people assume women=pastels. Actually my seafoam green buddy IS pastel, so I should probably retract my statement to just saying I don't want to wear pastel pink/purple gear. Pastel blue isn't bad. I'm gonna go hide in the corner now that I totally stuck my foot in my mouth.LunaP wrote:Uh.. thanks.AlleyOops wrote:Good to knowAWinn6889 wrote: From someone who used to live in Rochester/Irondequoit, and spent considerable time visiting a step-sister in Buffalo--- you will need a mesh summer jacket. Hey... I'm a girl too... Just because I never played with dolls much, ( except when I re-enacted The Six Wives of Henry VIII in full costume with my Barbies), play an electric guitar and can and have installed my own garbage disposal does not mean I'm not a girly girl either. I worked my way through grad school working for Lancôme, Clarins, and Erno Lazlo lol. I just want the choice... Female does not equal pastel... It's a choice. Or at least it should be. Maybe it's because my mom always tried to force me into that mold and perm my hair, (which is quite straight). But since I was little Emma Peel was a row model... Feminine all the way but equal. Much to my moms chagrin I have always been more Rhoda than Mary. But yes, despite a personal not-love of pastels, I am a girl too.

I totally hear you on being pushed into stupid girly crap when you were young-- my stepsister was all about the barbies and the dolls and make-up and shoes and stuff, and I am the exact opposite, but my stepmom wasn't having it. I grew up with my dad, camping, hiking, riding dirtbikes and ATVs, hunting, working on cars, and not giving two hoots about what brand my clothes and purses were. (I will admit, I do have a decent amount of shoes though...) My stepmom didn't understand how that could be, how I could be interested in the things I was interested in, and not barbies, jewelry, make-up yadda yadda. She would buy me pink crap all the time, and I just wouldn't do anything with it, usually I gave it to my stepsister in the end anyway.
Anyway, I wasn't saying that as a girl you have to wear girly colors to show off to everyone that you're a girl, I was saying that if you do it's nothing to be ashamed of, everyone has their own style. I kind of hate my bright pink helmet, but my only other choice was matte black, and I wanted it to be super visible- so pink it was.
My other point was that the lighter the colors the cooler your jacket will be, so if it's meant to be a summer jacket you want to go as light-colored as possible. Whether it's a light grey, light blue, pink, purple-- whatever, it's going to be cooler. The brighter, less found-in-nature-around-roads colors are also going to be more visible. That doesn't mean you can't go out and get a black, red or blue jacket-- you can, but they're going to be warmer because they're darker-- mesh or not.
My two cool-weather jackets are mostly black because I WANT them to absorb warmth from the sun. The one my boyfriend bought me has a pink stripe and reflective stuff, and the Corazzo I bought from MattGordon here has hunter green panels and silver reflective stuff. They're both great jackets, I wear them both frequently.
The other thing I have noticed is that people in cars are more cautious around bikes with women on them, whether they are riding cupcake or piloting their own two-wheel contraption. It's like the "don't swear around a lady" thing, I think. What better way to let people know you're a lady than to have a bright pink ff-helmet? and/or jacket?
That said, the 3/4 helmet I'm ordering soon is going to be silver to match the scoot.

Interesting point.. my helmet is white w/ black polka dots. I think thats pretty girly. Its a 3/4 though, and the more I think about it, I think I really want to buy a full face.AWinn6889 wrote: The other thing I have noticed is that people in cars are more cautious around bikes with women on them, whether they are riding cupcake or piloting their own two-wheel contraption. I have a 3/4 helmet in red green white and black with a gold stripe. When I first got my scooter I found full face helmets really claustrophobic. Probably because I never wore a helmet other than with my fencing gear. But reading up on kinds of accidents and where one is most likely to be injured so I just got a modular. The visibility part is important. Interesting observation about cars being more careful around woman.... Except cars with women driver's and they can be absolutely bitchy.
I'm usually wearing some kind of 60s 70s vintage scarf and bright yellow Corazzo gloves snd big vintage style sunglasses.... So they either know I'm a girl or they think Charles Nelson Reilly has risen from the grave.
And I am just self conscious about my weight. I was a size 6 to 8 for years ... I start going through "the change" and I jumped to a 16 even though I am pretty careful with what I eat, and I excercise. So I try to keep my style more taylored and don't get a lot of patterns going. So I love colour, I just am careful with it. My own hang up I guess. Oddly enough I am finding cuter jackets for riding... Love GoGo gear than I find for street wear. I wish designers realized that fashionistas dont stop at a size 10 or 12.

Ally, idk if you saw JHScoot's thread about his new SparX helmet... but I want this one. I guess it's kind of the opposite of yours. Super awesome though, I love it.AlleyOops wrote:Interesting point.. my helmet is white w/ black polka dots. I think thats pretty girly. I have always felt that regular full face helmets are too constricting and they definitely make me feel claustrophobic. I always had 3/4 helmets growing up, so I figured I would just get a 3/4. Well, my bf insisted that I get a modular after he got his, so I have a bright pink one. It was either that or matte black. I didn't get matte black because 1. it would have been the same exact helmet that my bf has, only significantly smaller, and 2. it's not very visible during the day, or especially at night. Wouldn't matter how much reflective pin striping I put on it, it would still be black.

I'm going back to 3/4 because I really feel the visibility and versatility of the modular is lacking. It's a nice helmet, and it's great for cooler weather, but I really don't like to wear it all the time... and I just don't trust my half helmet any father than I can throw it (which I'm sure is not very far!). It works for quick trips, but I try not to wear it for the longer ones.
Mutt, I have found that most of the women drivers in my area tend to just plain stay away from motorcycles on the road. Maybe because they acknowledge that they have a tailgating problem and they're worried about the bad ass biker thrashing their car if they get too close*... or maybe because they just plain don't like to be around them. For whatever reason, I have had more problems with men than I have with women. Women just tend to stay away from me for the most part, on the Sportster and on the scoot.
As far as sizes go, I tend to have more of a problem finding stuff that actually fits me, if you will. I am short, and I am curvy, but I have long legs for my height (32" inseam). I am more curvy now than usual, but even when I'm not carrying around this extra weight I'm about 34-24-36. I have always been a size 4-6, but am now up to 10-12, so it's not hard for me to find stuff in my size per se, it's just hard for me to find stuff that doesn't make me look like a rectangle just so that I can fit it over hips, while not suffocating the mangos. It's tough. There are a million different body shapes and sizes out there-- but only 3 different systems for measurement (petite, regular and tall), and most companies only go by 1 of them because it's not cost effective for them to try to fit everyone.
The real bitches though, are hormones. I can 100% agree with that.
*Recently a local guy busted some woman's rear window because she went around his friend at a stop sign to make a right, when he was clearly mid-right-hand-turn. She forced the friend off the road, off his bike, and into gravel. She didn't think twice about it and just kept going, so the original guy chased her down and threw some tool he must have had in his pocket through the rear window. Of course even though the woman could have killed the friend, and was obviously breaking the law, the motorcyclists were arrested, including the one that was forced off the road and two others that stopped to make sure he was okay. The woman was let go with a warning. Good ol' NY State Justice.

I have one of the old school 3-snap face shields that should fit it. We shall see!AlleyOops wrote:Hey that is the opposite of my helmet! Lol, it's okay, I didn't think you meant it in any kind of way, it just could have been taken... y'knowAlleyOops wrote:Ahh..sorrry, I REALLY didn't mean that the way it came across!! It's just not my style really and seems like a lot of people assume women=pastels. Actually my seafoam green buddy IS pastel, so I should probably retract my statement to just saying I don't want to wear pastel pink/purple gear. Pastel blue isn't bad. I'm gonna go hide in the corner now that I totally stuck my foot in my mouth.LunaP wrote:Uh.. thanks.AlleyOops wrote: Good to know
and Mutt.. I would NEVER wear a jacket w/ pastel colors, yuck!
PS- I'm digging that denim jacket, might have to order it.. $40 is my kind of price.

And yeah, I make a point of posting about stuff like that when I find it. $40 for a decent brand with CE armor everywhere you need it? Um, YEAH. Now I can have a legit patch jacket! I wasn't willing to fight a textile jacket to put patches on it, but denim I can sew more easily, or glue if I want. I just have to waterproof it for summer. Anybody ever used silicone waterproofer?
I also ordered some mesh armored pants for the same price... but they are a men's size not a women's. I just happen to know that I fit a men's 40 pant haha. I wasn't gonna pass up $40 armored pants either... future investment. Not riding without armor... probly ever again

I was looking very hard at the Nip Tuck in blue, trying to find it on super clearance somewhere... and found out that they used to make it in this awesome purply-pink color that I REALLY wanted because it would match my helmet really well... lemme see if I can find a photo...AWinn6889 wrote:
I wanted the light blue Scorpion NipTuck too, but before it sold out on both LeatherUp and MC-Superstore they only had it in XS. I'm still mad that they aren't bringing it back in that color-- and hoping they come out with a new color scheme for that jacket that's colorful, and not just black/grey/white again.

Alas, nobody stocks it in any size anymore. It is extinct.
I love Rev'it stuff, but it's too Euro-cut and does not fit me and they don't make plus sizes. Joe Rocket does on a few models; at some point down the road, I want to try out the Alter Ego, the 3 piece jacket they make, I think it's a very interesting concept. I also like the Firstgear Contour and was settling on buying that once I get replacement funds from my poor jacket that didn't make it, probably in white and pink, but then I saw the Ronin and had to pounce

That new Joe Rocket is pretty cool also-- I love the colors in the model's hair
