Slipstreamer Scoot 66 windshield

I got mine! I took my time and spent almost a half hour installing. As it is a "universal fit" you have to decide which way to turn the brackets. Once it is on it looks like it is made for the Buddy! There is some flex in the brackets allowing the shield to hit the mirrors on a very bumpy road. I think I can adjust that out. It is wide but not too tall. I can see over it. I think I lost a little on the top end, but didn't really have a chance to check it before the rain started. I'll post pix when I find out which one of my kids took my camera.

Did you tighten the adapters with the allen key? The windshield could come loose while riding from wind vibration. It's nice that you can un-tighten, and take one side of the windshield out, adjust the mirrors, then slide the windshield post back in.

Also nice it comes assembled (windshield, and 2 side support post)

Ok I will ask again on this thread....where does the wind hit you when you ride?

Jfrost is the loose mirror thing totally resolved?

the wind... If I sit up a bit, I get more wind flowing over the helmet. If I crouch, I get no wind. There is some vertical as well as tilt adjustment. I am 5'9" using a full face Scorpion EXO 400 if that helps.

Wind blast is so subjective as to be meaningless. One of the worst windshields I have ever used is the Windvest. You will see them on LOTS of Harleys. Most people love them (cause they look cool and cost too much). Try one and see if it suits you. If not, someone here will probably love to have it.

Like oldgohrider says, it goes ontop of your head, but this all depends on your height. If your 5'5'', you'll probably not feel much wind at all.

Also, the loose mirror thing can be on any windscreen if not done properly before attaching the actual windscreen itself. You just gotta tighten the mirrors perfect, then slip on the windshield, then bolt it down.

mine should be in tomorrow. Are there directions on how to install with the screen? I could not really get the instrctions already posted (I am that inept)

No instructions.

It should assemble in your mind instantly. You can just think how it goes. It's simple, yet hard to install. Simple because it had a low amount of pieces and hardware, hard because adjusting mirrors right and slipping the wind screen in is hard.

Take the mirrors off, put the screen mount onto where the mirrors go, screw it down with the 1 inch extension bolts that hold the mirrors. Dont tighten them fully yet, let the screen mounts have some play. Put the mirrors on, insert the screen, tighten it all down.

Also the s-shaped brackets have a large and small hole. I think I'll reverse them. Got to take it for a longer ride.

I received and installed this windscreen. Actually Mrpeabody99 did most of the work. Neither of us is very skilled in this area, so jfrosts directions on the other thread were a real help. Thanks! Still it was not easy for us as we are not hard wired for this kind of task.

I placed the order on a Sunday and received it Friday using the "supersaver" option. Total cost $75 delivered. I think I like the shape of the Cuppini's a little better, but they were so back ordered at the scoot shop, I gave up. The slipstream is wider and perhaps a bit taller.

I have not taken it for a long spin, but from what I can tell, I will still get a little wind on my forehead which is OK I guess b/c of my helmet . Even though I am almost 5'5, I must have a freakishly long torso (something I always suspected) if other taller members are not catching wind.

once I give it a good ride I can give more feedback. I am dreading the loose mirrors. I hate that!

Loose mirrors are always a problem when you install any windshield since they cant fully turn 360 degrees since the windshield blocks it. Best is to make it perfect, or use locktight. Blue, not red.

good news-blocks wind real well. rode in 37 degree, cold rain, 25 mph winds and was warm and dry.

Bad news- about everything but (surprisingly not) the mirrors, knocked loose on our bumpy roads. Came home and tightened everything. I think it will be better as we missed some of the joints. Nevertheless packed the allen wrenches in the buddy tool kit.

Wish the mirrors had presets where they could just lock into certain angles. Would be much easier to attack and position.

I just added stabil to my dad's bike and rode it around town to get the stuff into the fuel lines and carb, about 3 maybe 4 mile ride. The windshield makes so much wind noise, it hurts my ears. Still dont perfer windshields for myself.

wow I have not noticed that at all. ALthough I have not gone very fast since I installed it-maybe 35-40 mph tops. I wonder if it has anything to do with how it is installed?

Regardless, it provides so much protection, I think any noise would be worth it in the winter.

It was really windy today, maybe it was just the weather. The again my helmet has vents ontop, maybe wind was being blown in there, and since they are shut, they're just making a loud noise.

Do you still have the Slipstream66 on your scooter? If so, what has been your experience--how fast does your Buddy go with it on there, how warm does it keep you, where does it come up to (like under your chin...?) when you are riding, and can you provide any front, side and back pix of it on your Buddy?

I actually do not. BUT I loved it when I had it. Shortly before I moved from Cleveland (need windscreen) to San Diego (don't need), I hit the biggest pot hole known to man or women. I was airborne and then bouncing. Stayed up right, but the piece of hardware attaching the stem to the scooter sheared off when I landed. I taped it together

until I got to SD. everyone is different sized, but I would say it came below my chin. It made a huge difference in warmth and when raining and moving, rain hit the top of my helmet, rather than my face-I wear full face helmet but it was nice to not have my face shield soaked. I would not be without a windscreen in rainy climate. It really made a difference.

I do believe my top speed was better (sorry can't recall) and am SURE my gas mileage was better. I could sometimes hit over 100mpg, and I do nowhere near that now-saw the dramatic difference after removing it (confounders: moved to CA- is the gas formula different? are some of the giant hills making scoot suck up gas?)

Its not the prettiest windscreen- but I think its height and width are really utilitarian for people who ride in less fair weather-rain, wind, cold.

Thanks for the fast response. I agree with you that it's not as nice looking as the Cuppini, but it does look like it would give more protection from wind/rain of which we have an abundance here in Seattle.
