Kill switch pop

Post by squawkersmccaw »

For the past two nights when I have flipped the kill switch to park my Buddy, it has made a "POP" sound. I haven't noticed this before yesterday. The scooter is running fine. It's a 50cc with less than 400 miles on it. Is my Buddy trying to tell me something?

Thanks for any advice!

Does it sound like an electrical pop? I'm thinking maybe you've got a short in there and it's sparking a little bit. If your Buddy is under warranty, I'd suggest having that looked at.

Yeah, if its an electrical pop I would have the dealer check it out. Personally, I never use the kill switch. I just use the key and keep the switch in its "on" position.

Is it the switch or the scooter going pop?

Good question, Skootz. I assumed the pop came from the switch. If the scooter is popping, then disregard my diagnosis.

I'm not sure what pops or if it sounds electrical...if it does it again tomorrow, I will be listening more closely. It is definitely under warranty, so I'll have it checked out; first service will be coming up in no time!

Hi Mutt the Hoople! Yes, I've been having the time of my life scooting. I'll try to check in here more often. I passed my MSF test and can get my license in a few days (have to have permit for 30 days in Kentucky). Squawk!

Congrats on passing your MSF!!! I take the class in two weeks. I hear you... I love my scooter too. It makes me so happy.... So happy that I want a second bigger scoot for the roads that are over 35MPH... No interstates though. But the road that I take to school has stretches that are over 35mph and rough pavement as well. So I think i will ad to my two wheeled family. And with all the errands I now do on my scooter, the gas in my car lasts a smidge overntwonweeks instead of barely one! Glad you are a happy scooterist!

Yeah, I have a feeling I am going to want to add a second scooter in the future for the same reasons. I love my Buddy 50 and don't think I'll ever want to give it up, but sometimes I want to go places it can't safely take me. It will be awhile before I feel like I am ready to go on major roads on any scooter, but I do think the time will come!

I definitely want something with bigger wheels, as the roads here are abysmal. But I sure love how the Buddy handles, and I want something agile and not too heavy. Looking at the Kymco People 150' and 200GTi, as well as a Sym Wolf... Though the Wolf is not a scooter. Wish the Kymco 200GT came in the gold... Not too hot on the silver or black... I love my two-tone Buddy, but I can always add something. But I love riding, and I hate it when I get hemmed in by roads I can't take... Mutt wants to roam lol
