Time to say 'Hi' to all.....I registered yesterday after ghosting for the last 4 months or so.
I added a leftover, new 09 2T in blue to my box of toys last Friday, the thirteenth.
Obviously, I'm not superstitious, otherwise I would have waited a day.
Although the weather here has conspired against me, I have been able to put 160 miles on it so far.
I purchassed the bike from Scooterworks in Chicago in early December as a layaway.
Nice folks and a good buying experience.
My toy box includes the first Honda Sport 50 I purchassed new in 1967, so I will admit to growing older but not yet growing up....no time for that.
The scooter fleet includes a 1986 Honda Spree, a 2003 Yamaha Zuma, and now the Stella.
To this, add motorcycles from a 97 Gold Wing and down the displacement scale including a 1993 Honda CT70. All the machines are functional and of show quality.....I am a bit of a machine nut as you can tell.
We'll save the cars for some other time.
So far, the Stella has exceeded my expectations.....my first ever motorcycle driving experience in 1964 was on a Allstate 150....essentally a Puch, which also had a wrist shifted 150cc fan cooled two stroke.
Hows that for travelling full circle!
So, the Stells brings back the good memories of that first, somewhat addictive, ride way back when.
The only things I did upon getting the Stella home was add a bit of free play to the throttle and clutch....both were set up with none.
Did the usual try to get the mirrors adjusted for a better view NOT of my arms but to no avail....those stalks are a bit too short.
From reading this forum I had learned several owners had the ground leads slide off the front turn signal spades.....yep, mine were falling off too.
I simply closed the sleeves down a bit and they now have to be slid on with a bit of force....I don't anticipate a replay.
So, thanks to all for that bit of preventative info.
Break in, so far, has been reasonably straightforward....lots of stoplights in my area so RPM changes, upshift/downshift and light brake application is the order of the day anyways.
Thats about all I can throw out to you all.
Rob

The Allstate belonged to a friend of my fathers......evidently I appeared coordinated enouph to get that guys trust.
Imagine allowing a first timer to 'try out' your machine......what a leap of faith, eh?
I won't even take people up on offers to ride their scooters. A little oil, some gravel, whatever and it's a rather unfortunate situation for all.

welcome to the forum..
Let's hope that your 09 doesn't have the dreaded oil check valve problem that is plaguing some of our 09 owners..
As far as your mirrors go..... Ive taken the mirror brackets off and in a vice.. bent them slightly so as the head of the mirror extends more away from you. This work! and now I only see just a small fraction of my arms! Perfect..
Just bend a few degrees...
Clamp the double hole end in a vice... put a sacrificial long bolt in the stem hole.. and bend away.
My friend did his while the mirrors were still attached to his Stella.
he just grabbed the stem and pulled down a bit at a time..
Scary.. but successful.. wow
Good luck and we look forward to your experience in cycles as you post more in this forum.
