I Have New 170i, Whoopie! + a Helmet Question.

Post by A Neat Guy »

Chose the 170i over the Psycho...

Watch out for me on the mean streets of St. Louis City & County.

BTW...does anyone know of a full face, XL helmet that will fit under my seat. The dealer gave me a GMAX 44S helmet - which I really like - but, sadly, it doesn't fit under my seat. He didn't have any other full face helmets in stock, so I took that one. Suggestions?

Hey, Neat, congrats.

I have the GMax 68S, which doesn't fit, either, but I'm OK with that, as I typically keep a rainsuit, tool bag, hi-viz vest, and a cable lock in there anyway. For short stops I typically use the helmet peg on the front of the storage compartment to hang the helmet, but at work, home, etc. I take it inside anyway.

Hope to see you around the 'Lou.

Yeah, Congrats!, but I don't think there is a full face that will fit in the compartment, especially an XL. I use the peg, and have never had a problem.

I have a 3/4 and that barely fits under the seat, so I have to echo the what other folks are telling you.

Nice ride! No idea on the helmet since I have a 3/4 size small... If you find something let us know. I want to get a ff sometime soon.

congrats on the purchase!

I too have surrendered to the peg. if I mash the crap out of it, I can get the seat to close on my helmet, but it doesn't want to + I always have crap in the pet carrier. So far so good.

My AGV Blade 3/4 helmet fits, but the ICON full-face does not.

The Buddy 170 has a smaller area under the seat than the 150, I have an Arai RX-Q that just barely fits under the 150 seat but was rather un-happy when I got my 170 home and saw they changed the design just enough that my helmet will not fit.

I never realized this. I was going to comment that I have had three different types of large FF helmets that do fit under my 125's seat. I have heard that XL's can be tough but I wouldn't totally give up hope.

What I do is put all the ancillary stuff (gloves, a pouch with some tools and my registration, etc) in the helmet before putting it in under the seat. It's tight but it does fit.

My large HJC won't fit. I could barely get my 3/4 helmet to fit, and to do so I had to mash it into the seat. This can't be good for either the bike or the helmet. I just use the pegs, and haven't had a problem.

Why risk damaging you helmet my "mashing" it into the pet carrier? If you use the peg it will be almost as secure.
