painting pipes

Post by robtaylor »

by mistake i sprayed some reflective spray paint on the end of my exhaust pipe, while i was spraying the fender (below the liscence plate) it has been on there for approx. 500 miles and it hasn't burned off like i thought it would and it lead me to ponder whether or not you could paint your whole exhaust pipe, and what the ramifications would be

anyone ever painted their pipes?

I was thinking about doing this myself. I think if you bought high heat paint from the Home Depot, you'd be able to do it successfully.
You don't wanna get mixed up with a guy like me. I'm a loner Dottie, a REBEL.

You can either use BBQ paint (from a hardware store) or header paint from an auto parts store.

my pipe was damaged in a low side.

I used a matte black Dupli-color 1200 degree "High Heat" paint for my pipe.

Worked great.

Can be found @ most auto parts stores for bout $4 can.
