any experience with Mobile Warming products?

Competition Accessories has mobile warming products on sale. I can't say that they're cheap, but given that it is warm in most places currently I think they are just clearing them out.

Unfortunately there's not a ton of reviews, so I'm not so sure. I know Gerbings makes good stuff, but many have complained that the heating elements burn out fast. I like the battery pack idea as I don't think for the short commute I really need some leaders on the 12v.

Basically if I had some minor heating products I could ride about 90% of the time, which would be a big help.

I use gerbings heated gauntlets. I wire them from the battery, run the cables up and out of the handlebars, measure enough slack for me to raise my hands up over my visor when plugged in, then ziptie them to the handlebars. Then just take them off around March. They're very warm, and I use the leather waterproofing stuff in the beginning of the season. My wife had the heating thing fail on one, we sent it out, and it was fixed and returned in a few weeks, no biggie. Got my recommendation.

It doesn't get very cold around here, just sometimes. I ride year round, and only plug in occassionally.

we do get a couple months where ice is rare, but morning temps are in the teens and it's miserable. I'm hoping to ride 10 months out of the year, but the last of the winter was certainly bitter!

I use the Gerbings Hybrid gloves pretty much every day from fall through Spring...at least in the morning.

Additionally I have installed heated grips and wired them directly to the battery. When I use them I just use the battery tender at night--it only takes maybe 20-30 minutes and the battery is topped off again.

I love both of these products, and in fact use them together on occasion, as the gloves (for me at least) do not seem to keep the underside of my hands, and tips of my finger as warm. (But then I have Raynaud's, so my fingertips are more sensative than most folks').

The cool (pun intended) thing about Hot Grips is that they are made in the USA!!!...a rare find these days.

Plus, IMO they look the best.

I have used the Firstgear brand heated gloves,pants,socks, and jacket. They work great! you can even get a control unit that has 2 knobs. That way you can crank up the heat on your feet while having the second knob turned down for say your jacket. Its about 600 bucks for a full setup, but if you ride in the cold often it's worth every penny.
