Chrome Parts

I'm considering having some parts on my scooter chromed. Has anyone else done this? I was thinking about doing the wheels, has anyone seen any chrome wheels out there that I could purchase? What was the price range, and were you satisfied with the results? BTW I'm in the Seattle area...so if anyone knows of a good shop to go to let me know!

Also...why does it say that I'm a "lurker"? Do I need to do anything special to become a member? I already made a profile...

Hey, wouldn't it be cool to have all the plastic color parts chromed?

Sunset Orange could become the Silver Surfer Scooter.

Somebody with Photoshop skills want to mock one up for us?

Yeah - a little chrome never hurts anybody.
As for lurker - I think that is a sub-title that gets generated by the number of posts you have contributed to the boards. My guess is after 5 or 10 - it will say 'Member' and not Lurker.

You could chrome the kick-start and stands as well.

I tried to crome the buddy, but crome is a really difficult color to duplicate. Well, at least it is with my skills. I was able to come up with a hideous gumdrop buddy. It must be the 2009 model!

Parts I was considering include:

Wheels
Passenger foot rests
Front forks
Kick stand
Center stand
Kick start
Brake levers
Engine cover? that the kick start is attached to...

Any other ideas?

I know it would be $$$ to get it all done, but maybe a piece or 2 at a time

Mirrored\chrome vinyl on the body? That might give you that chrome look. And if you don't like it peal it off.

Now that you mention it I think there is some sort of competition for designing the next bubu. I think the gumdrop buddy may be a winner. I wish their was a plain white Buddy.

I might do the bootleg silver surfer transformation on my bike and just tape it up with the silver mirrored duct tape. There is a good chance the bike would blind all drivers at night.

Plain white would be nice...I want to put white walls on Creme Fraiche but thought it would look weird.

I would say the "gumdrop Buddy" looks more like Sherbet, but the plaid seatcover would be a good choice.

From what I understand, the usual chrome plating process worked best on aluminum or steel surfaces. There are a number of faux-chrome plastic parts out there which are really just polished and painted. This might actually look okay on many of the Buddy's plastic parts. I mean, a chrome legshield would be impressive even if it was faux-chrome.

Your rims can definitely be chrome plated. Most chrome places specialize in bumpers but most cities also have a number which do parts for auto and MC restorations. For a sense of the cost, Jettin, which serves mostly Vespa owners with various custom parts, will do wheels for $140 each.
