ADV on a GTS! and Instagram fun...

Post by Wheelz »

I posted this on MV, but thought you guys might like the story too.

It started out as a great day for a ride. I decided to go out to this Nature preserve about 50 miles away with great hiking trails, and it really in the middle of no-where. I had been before but the last time I got lost on the way, and had to turn around and come back. So no chance of getting lost this time, and off I went.
The ride was nice and smooth. I got there and went down the road to a good spot to park the scoot and walk. There were clouds rolling in, but this is Florida in the Summer time and it could only be a 5 min rain
I went to take some pictures w/ my phone cause I just installed intsgram, and wanted to play with it. Let me say, that my phone is the cheapest semi- intelligent android phone you can get. Somebody (read SO)had switched my camera settings to Sepia, and I could not figure out how to change it back.
So I have intagram but they are all with a sepia filter...
Then the monsoon started.
I rushed back to the scoot, threw on my rain gear, and settled in for a minute thinking the rain was gonna pass. No such luck, there was a solid rain falling. I figured it was best to just cut the trip short and get the hell out of there.
The road out here is hard packed dirt, I figured so I get a little muddy, meh.
I was tooling along at a cool 10 vmph and not really being bothered by the rain, kinda enjoying myself really. I didn'y notice where it happened but the road branched into a "slightly more rural" trail, and before I knew it, I was avoiding huge puddles and ruts in the sand and mud
The rain had stopped, and found myself with a problem.
Do I turn around or keep going? I kept going and really it was prolly only a mile or so but it seemed to take forever at less than 5 vmph. It was wet, soupy, loose, and littered with rocks.
I finally made it to a main road.
I looked at the sign that marked the trail and it said "4 wheel drive recomended", DOH!
I took the main road back to the entrance and was happy to see a paved road again.
I got off the scoot and gave it a once over, no dents the wheels seemed straight, but good god look at all this mud!
Snake Eyes needed a bath, to say the least.
My joy of finding the paved road home was short lived, because the storm that had passed me in the woods was following my route home....
I got really wet on the ride home, but a plus was that it washed the scoot pretty good.
I'm still learning the whole intagram thing and subsiquently had alot of broken links when i got home.
:x

If you wanna see the pics and have Instagram I'm uptown89 on there and you can follow me.
