Does anyone know where to find a "nice" looking mens riding jacket that doesn't make you look like an X-man or that kid in that movie, "A Chirstmas Story" when his mom dressed him up in that jacket and he couldn't move? Thanks in advance....

I shop corazzo. Great looking jackets minus the "well I'm off to work at the death star" look. Also try motorcycle superstore.

Another excellent brand (and quite affordable) is River Road. They make a variety of "cruiser" jackets, but have a great selection of leather, nylon and other textile jackets. My jacket, the "Laughlin" is a canvas textile traditional "shop" jacket style, with a full zip high collar. It has shoulder and back armor and a removable liner. Only cost me $89 on clearance, and while it's a slight bit on the large side, with the liner it fits well and is quite rugged. GREAT late 60's look that does not scream biker at all and looks well for off-bike wear.

The piping along the shoulders actually doesn't show up in daily wear. It's reflective along the front and back. Otherwise, it's quite normal. Don't mind the goofy nerd wearing it...

+1 I'm not a shill either but Corrazo and GoGo Gear are my favorites. Love the GoGo Gear Cafe Jacket with mesh for the summer. And they are a very nice company to deal with.

I hate buying clothes without trying them on.

The GoGo Cafe Jacket looks nice. I will have to keep it in mind when I go and visit the kids.

Corazzo also makes several 'discreetly armored' jackets. they aren't too poofy, and the quality on mine is great.

On the purchase of my Corrazo Shop Jacket it was a no exchange, no return situation, it turned out to be a bit too big, without stuffing a fleece layer underneath the armor shifts about to the point of being uncomfortable

I'm looking at the River Road Laughlin now for about a year, can't find one where I could try it on first!!

I do believe in Corrazo's defense, the company has been liquidating inventory and they have been bought out by an Australian entity. Nonetheless, I love their designs and the gear they make.

I wish I didn't live 120 miles from known civilization. The only store we have here is a Walmart I hate buying clothes without trying them on.

The GoGo Cafe Jacket looks nice. I will have to keep it in mind when I go and visit the kids.

We don't have any GoGo stockists in the area...i ordered direct. They have a very reasonable return policy. I emailed back and forth with Arlene multiple times before ordering, and so when my stuff arrived it fit perfectly. (insert normal disclaimer that I am a VERY nonstandard size)

TL;DR: ordering online is not painful with these folks.

I've heard nothing but good things. I want to try them, myself, since they actually are kind of fashion-forward and actually have stuff that would fit me (even the me before I lost 40lbs in the hospital)... but I won't have the money for a long time.

One reason I'm also very interested. I'm not that big, but sadly so many companies I think just don't want anyone who isn't "acceptably" thin wearing their product, and I often find myself just on the edge of a zipper not making it over the girls. I love that GoGo Gear offers so many sizes, it just speaks to them as a company, that they welcome everyone of all sizes, and understand not just size 4s want to have nice things.

I don't know what you like style-wise, but Joe Rocket, Cortech/Tourmaster, Scorpion, and Firstgear all have at least a few jackets that they make in expanded ladies sizes, and even in plus sizes. Before the hospital I was a bit of an odd size... 20 pants, and XL (or 16/18) in shirts, but I'm young so my boobs are large but still perky (forgive me for frankness), so any dressier clothing I found at clothing stores catered to larger women were actually too roomy or looked weird up top. Now I'm down to 16 pants and a Medium tee shirt size 0.o

The jacket I was wearing when I crashed was a Firstgear Kilimanjaro. I'll more than willing to say I could owe my life to it. I also have pieces of gear made by Scorpion and Cortech that I like. I don't own Joe Rocket but I looked at them- they have a neat 3-piece hybrid jacket that I'd like to try out just because the concept is cool.

The replacement jacket I bought for when I CAN ride again is a Power Trip jacket, called the Ronin... it's denim and armored and fits well without being snug at all. I haven't looked a lot at Power Trip's stuff... I just found it on super duper mega clearance in what I ascertained to be my size at the time and went clicky clicky. I also of course bought armored pants, but since I don't ever expect ladies riding pants to fit me, they are men's size from Firstgear, also on super duper clearance.

It's quite allright. Armor in the shoulder and elbows elbow full armor and a back pad (not full back armor, which I failed to make clear n in the previous post) and a heavyweight canvas/nylon denier 600 construction make it as non-motorcycle-like as possible. It fits well with the liner, but without it's sort of big. So, if you get this you have to determine if you want it for cooler or warmer riding since there doesn't seem to be much flexibility with sizing when the liner comes into play. I like the fact that the collar zips up all the way to cover the neck. That's great for the winter and really helps!

I am thinking of getting a size down to wear without the liner and to get a more trim fit. With the smaller one, it fit me like a non-bike jacket but provide all the protection. And at that price one can afford to! It's really a great value and held up last year with no problems

Wow, yes you are much smaller on top, the only time I wore medium tops was when I was in a size 8/10 pants. I wear a 14/16 now (or rather, again, the weight loss didn't take, ugh) and depending on cut and where it's from, usually a XL or XXL on top, I have a pretty large bust (I'll stick with "bust" on a forum with lots of guys, lol) and sadly most things that fit the bust are loose in the waist. I have a Dickies Eisenhower jacket which I purchased online because NOBODY carried the womens one in any brick and mortar stores, so it was a gamble. I was torn, my options were large, which is a 14/16, and in theory should probably fit, or an XL which was an 18/20, which I dreaded fitting, but I went for it, figuring the large wouldn't zip over said bust. Sure enough, the XL fits great. A tad loose over a t-shirt, but will be perfect over a hoodie come New England autumn.

I had never really intended on getting a real riding jacket, I also had no idea that such stylish alternatives like GoGo Gear existed. Now that I know, I'm going to bite the bullet. The GoGo Gear trenches are really nice looking and seem to get rave reviews. I also LOVE that they come in REAL sizes, none of this 14/16 or 18/20 stuff, so the result should be an overall very well fitting jacket.

I own this jacket and love it. Looks really sharp. It's my "dress" riding jacket.

I have owned several Corazzos: Max, Tempeste, Venatata and Postale. The Postale is my daily riding jacket now. (Review forthcoming.) I've liked them all, but they do have different fits and benefits. I think the Postale and Tempeste work best for me. Need the Ventata for the heat. The Max is discontinued.

They've also got some new stuff coming, an updated Tempeste and a 6.0 jacket.

Yeah, I mean... I still wear a Large in cutesy-fancy tops, anything slim or form-fitting, but I manage a medium in plain 'ol tees now, which would be exciting if I went anywhere

I like both the men and women's Military, and also would love the Hologram, if it came in some other color than 'shiny'. If you need sizing help, they respond to emails and work really hard to make sure what you order fits right, from everything I've heard. They definitely get rave reviews in the customer service dept, too.

The hologram one is a little too

for me, but it's certainly neat. I'm a self-proclaimed "girlie tomboy." I'm into cars and Vans and nailpolish and purses. So I like the idea of it fitting like a womens jacket, but not looking like a girlie jacket.

Definitely getting one, it's just now a matter of deciding between the military or trench!

So, I hate worrying about my jeans wiggling down and shirt riding up, I'd find myself constantly checking to be sure I didn't resemble a plumber, even with a long tank top on underneath.

Sadly, not joking at all! Grabbed these over the weekend and it's a really good fix. $10 for two, I got them at Bed Bath & Beyond, I had previously seen them at Walmart, probably any pharmacy with an "as seen on TV" area too. Simple things like this tend to be replicated and pop up on eBay and Etsy, about to go look for some in other colors.
