Beach Buddy Rentals
Spent a week in New Smyrna Beach, Florida recently and the town is packed......packed with scooters, scooter rentals and scooter repair shops. Everywhere I looked.....scooters. It was awesome. I didn't have my Buddy along, so didn't get to enjoy a ride on the beach. Yep, the sandy beach is open to vehicles and I saw people riding scooters on the sand.
I have a nice photo of a lineup of Genuine rental scooters lined up in the sun, but unfortunately I can't attach the photo. Anyone willing to let me email it to them and then upload for everyone to see, that would be cool???
You would be amazed at the condition of these rentals.....rusted out, broken parts, sand in every possible place....some with 900 miles, others with 4,000 miles.

I agree, liquid cooled Ruckus playing in the sandbox would be my choice. We use Adly Bullseye's in our rental fleet. Strictly street use only.k1dude wrote:If they're being ridden on the sand, I'm surprised they don't ONLY rent the Honda Ruckus since's it's made for dirt/sand.

I go to Ocean City MD every September for a huge Volkswagen show and I've yet to rent a scoot but a lot of people do. Mostly Ruckuses (Ruckii?) if they can, but I think they're a bit more money.
I think it's something like $100 for four hours, which is crazy. I looked into renting a beach cruiser bicycle two years ago and it was $50 for the whole week lol.
This year, friend is bringing a trailer, so I'm considering bringing Stella, but he won't be there until the end of the week, so not really worth it
Miiight throw my cruiser on the back of my Beetle but the rack is a pretty sketchy fit on such an oddly shaped car and a six hour highway drive makes me very nervous.

I'm outdoorsy in that I like getting drunk on patios.

Funny.... A bunch of coworkers went to a wedding weekend in the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Many of them are the same idiots who tried to make wisecracks about my scooter when I first got it. What did they do in NC? Rented scooters, and rumor has it they had a blast. But they're just toys, remember? We're supposed to live in the suburbs and drive large SUVs to work in the city.

HAHA! BootScootin'FireFighter, you'll get the last laugh when they beg to ride yours on their next lunchbreak. I always laugh and smile when I pull up to a gas pump and see that the last person paid over $50 to fill their tank.
This is just a random question, but is there any estimates or documentation on how many scooters are sold each year in the United States. I keep seeing the scooters with the big VIP on the sides....what brand is that?

I have friends that can't wait to rent scooters when they go on vacation. It's one of the big things they always talk about. They say it's the funnest thing EVER!
Yet when they get home they wouldn't touch a scooter with a mile long pole. They always shake their heads in embarassment for me when they see me on my scooter. They only stick to their Harley's when home.
