paint jobs?

Post by alexandercase »

Anyone actually had a paint job on a stella done before? or vespa p series? I'd be curious to know some details about cost, disassembly etc. It seems like someone would've had to of had it done?

I looked all over the forum and searched, and people listed estimate paint jobs costing anywhere from $500-$2000+.

I've done my own paint work before on my old '05. It is very time intensive but rather cost effective. Not for the type who expects it to be spray and forget. It takes a touch... but for the DIY'er, it's a blast and really helps you "own" the bike. I'll post the link when I find it.

Ah, here we go! If you're looking to paint a Buddy, but not keen on the price of a shop here's the DIY way without an air compressor. What I did was a single stage because I wanted a particular look, but the base/clear coat process would just double on what is done here.

Of course, there is tons of prep, disassembling and cleaning involved. You would have to do this anyways if you took it to a shop, or pay them out the ass to have them do it for you. With vintage bikes you either come to the table with/learn alot of skills to do it cheap and right or pay a ton of money to have it done for you. I find the first method very fun and the pleasure of owning a vintage bike (or a Stella, which is a new-made vintage bike).
